I've said it many times. YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO OFFER. There's power in your story no matter what path you have walked. This topic of being yourself means so much to me because I can tell you first hand that being myself has cost me popularity and fitting in with what's considered normal. But the power is in knowing that I can change the world by being myself. This is what I strive for when creating content for Steemit. I do my best to bring ME to the table and I hope you consider doing the same. For you to be you is what is means to be human.
As you know Steemit is growing like crazy. Many new people come here trying to figure out how they can be heard or how they can make a difference. While there are some other factors that I won't mention at the moment, I will say one thing that should never be forgotten. BE YOU. I know how tempting it is to see other Steemian's success and say "I want to talk about what he talks about" or "She is popular so I want to do what she is doing". Now I'm not saying don't be inspired because I am inspired by others too like @valorforfreedom and @denmarkguy for example. But my main point in all of this is to focus on what you can bring to the table and the power you have to influence others in your own way. You don't need to be someone else. You need to be YOU. Much love and peace Steemit family.

I'm ready to do this. And we know there is a spiritual war going on to try to stop the work God is trying to accomplish here on Earth. We have already won though. We have nothing to lose but everything to gain.
Thats so beautifully written by you and perfect ornamental English writing and I learned some more words from this blog, so its a value addition for me. So I want to say here that this is what steemit offers and I must say I learn so many things from day to day basis.

But how can one not ever be authentic? What is the crux of being authentic vs fake vs wearing a mask? The mask one would choose to wear is still an extension of the authentic self.
What does it truly mean to be authentic?
I highly doubt anyone can escape authenticity, the problem is others willingness to admit this or agree. Even when you lie, it is still a reflection of the authentic self.
I've thought about this a lot, it seems to be a preference for others to be vulnerable, not necessarily "authentic" (a seemingly empty word). Which makes sense, considering it gives people an advantage in how to deal with you, cooperate with you, which can be very productive. The flip side is that being fully out there and open, is borderline suicidal.
I think it's critical to balance this to some degree dependent upon context and your desires... just some food for thought.
Interesting thoughts. I mean for some being authentic means wearing a mask. When I use the term I am simply saying be free to be who you are and express yourself. Yes some people may really be liars but that's not a standard I would want anyone living up to.
Hopefully our authenticity is for the benefit of others but we know that being free can offend some. I get where you're coming from though. People should just be open free, transparent and embrace who they are. Do you agree that people are pressured to be someone else when that is not who they really are at the core?
And don't you think people wearing masks negatively impacts society?
I don't think masks negatively impact society. I think they can be rather critical, depending on context. Some people are pressured, but it is still they who give in to the pressure. Is it healthy? I'm not so sure, but I wouldn't expect people to be transparent about everything (not saying you have the expectation). There's variations and gradations to this. There is usefulness to a mask, especially in security and/or exposing grievances and wrong-doing. Not all heroes can reveal their identity. Even on a more personal level, there is still usefulness to not revealing all your cards. To be totally transparent exposes some vulnerabilities and diminishes some level of personal value.
This was so deep that I had to drop my phone for a while to think. Do we really need to loose ourselves to gain attention ? We had to ask myself if that's how I have been living my life.
Well for me, when I first learnt of steemit , the first thing I was told was that plagiarising was punishable and since then I made a resolve to bring originality to steemit . Most times I tell stories of my life to motivate others. I try to make my stay here in steemit as real as possible because I know it's all about touching lives. At least someday someone would look back and say his or her life was changed because of the life experience of someone he or she read online and that would be me.
I am happy you asked who some other steemian were because you are truly the first. Now for some others , @surpassinggoogle tips the list because he has been of great inspiration to so many of us steemians and we all look up to him. Another steemian that inspires me a lot is @karenmckersie, despite the fact that she has attained a great height on steemit, she still interacts with us minnows like it's nothing and we are greatful for that. Yet another steemian that inspires me @anomadsould...a man who is down to earth and has the interest of minnows at heart. I live all these people and wish I could meet them in person someday including you.

Since we've connected I've been inspired by you. I love hearing what you have to say so thanks for being open and sharing your life. A Steemit meetup would be cool. THey do have Steemfest in November which is the biggest meetup of other Steemians .Hopefully one day I will attend.
In steemit also we see many people and we get inspired by some people and they used to be our ideal in steemit and that really makes our journey easy and passionate.

We all draw inspiration from others. I do as well. But at the same time we have to use that inspiration to grow who we are and be ourselves.
I commend you on being the authentic you. It's so easy to wear a mask to fit in because if anyone judges that - you know it's not the real you. But when you go out into the world being your true self and you get judged, it makes you feel deficient. Humanearl you are demonstrating true courage! Much love Jay.
Getting judged by the world for being yourself can give you much insight. It lets you know if you are being grounded in YOU or what other people think. I just choose to be grounded in me because that's just how I roll and being someone else feels like a big lie.
Nice post man, it seems in this day and age it's actually quite hard to be yourself. Everyone is expecting everyone else to do the exact same things, react the same, believe the same, think the same, dress the same, and if you don't then there's something wrong.
The past couple years I've been working to reclaim my individuality and really present myself to the world. Steemit has been really helpful in allowing me to have my own voice and enter an open minded community.

Becoming more self aware is one of the most powerful experiences you can have. Take the opportunity to do that. Glad you stopped by.
For me right now I am using my S7 Edge which has a pretty nice lens for a phone. However my plan is to upgrade to an actual camera than can handle a much bigger workload. If you can't use your phone and it has a decent camera then great but if not then a camcorder should work also.

Truth! You gotta be true to yourself. Be open to other people's ideas and experiences, but don't become someone different to fit in or gain popularity.
I like encouraging people. I like networking and letting people know that what they bring to the table is appreciated, respected, valued. I like sharing what I learn too.
@davemccoy and @glenalbrethsen both inspire me. They are both professional and helpful. They share what they know and look for ways to help people along. You inspire me a lot too!

@humanearl, Actually when I came to steemit before used some of social media platforms. That all not given successful things. But taken my golden time from them. I've only 04 months experience here. Now I understand why were I spend valuable my life time to them. Steemit seriously biggest social media for me coz It given me lot of world heritage/ geographical/ arts/ cryptocurrency knowledge. I've known cryptos after come here. If not happen I don't know yet. I've met more genius steemians here. Its being more valuable me. I'll try creating content in steemit and already done little bit. After few time I'll do my best. Thanks for encouraging me.

The thing about having an online presence is you can be anyone you want to be. But the reality is - it's hard to be someone else!

Anyone can be anyone they want to be but not everyone will be who they need to be.
There are a lot of talented people at steemit. I will not go into details, but give an example. By this example you will be. You pay attention to every comment you write and answer them. You spend time on the art of reciprocity and create a wave of reciprocal reciprocity. You constantly grow, grow here, grow in life and you do not hesitate to share this with us.
All this inspires me to become better. I see how it works thanks to you and I want to be a part of this movement.

After doing this yourself you will look back after some time and notice the progress you made. Hopefully you will reach your goals and I am glad to be able to inspire you along the way.
The first time I visited the US, it really struck me how so many people wanted to be someone other than themselves. Some pretended to be more than they actually were, others strongly identified with some distant heritage that bore no relation to their day-to-day lives (it was a form of escapism) and others just acted as though they came from some other cultural background. I've lost count of how many Americans have told me that they're Irish or Italian. Anyway, your video reminded me of that.
Oh where should I start? The U.S in general has a very superficial culture. It's all about status, money, fame, etc for many people. People sell their souls for this stuff literally.
When the singer of The Presidents of The USA saw a huge billboard when he first arrived in LA with a picture of a woman advertising underwear. His first impression was that everyone wants to be naked and famous, which became the song "Naked And Famous".

The Thing is many steemians aspire to be like other steemians but they dont put into consideration what the latter is going through to be where he/she currently is..
Its not like they say "the person gives them inspiration" no! They just want to be like the person but they wont work hard and that is what often leads to plagiarism, they get lazy to create original articles.. They just want it the easy way..
Well some are being misled probably bcos no one is there to tutor them.. I pity them, because they might not last here.. Many are just 'ignoramuses'.. May God help them..
I believe that if i am given the opportunity, i can bring a helping hand to upcoming minnows and newbies on steemit.. Its always been my dream from the day i joined steemit to one day do things you and other selfless steemians do..
And I want to always be myself.
And I have a lot of steemians who inspire me of which you @humanearl are one, @surpassinggoogle (the boss himself), @abigail-dantes(my steemit mother and mentor), @lyxng(i could call her my steemit sister) @swissclive and so on.
You guys inspire we minnows a lot.. You are all down to earth, taking your time to put we minnows on the right path. Organizing contests in order to give minnows opportunities to win something and add to their wallets..

It's cool that you want to get to a place where you can help newcomers. That will make Steemit grow even faster because it means new people are always being engaged as soon as they get here. each of us thinks differently, looks different than others. To be different from others is good. Our indivduality and difference make us interesting.
I study a lot here and I will encourage people (my voice is not great, but I'm working to increase it). I have many ideas, I want to work on improving the quality of life of many users.
I want to work on so that as many people from my country learn about steemit and this allows them to improve their own lives and become smarter. On a personal example, I want to prove that everything is possible, if you make an effort.

On steemit we have a big problem with the use of flag..The currently system is very extreme inequality in rewards has in my opinion escalated to a point, where it endangers Steem/Steemit as a whole. A few posts get rewards in the tens of thousands, while the vast majority stays in the single digit range (if that). Such discrepancies are not "fair", because they in no way mirror the quality distribution. Its in most cases just a question of luck (or whom you happen to know) which decides your income...So i think about a solution to this big problem.
The flag is abused many times. I have no clue on how to solve the issue of content distribution and rewards. Hopefully a solution can be found. Until then I will do my best to reward others for their contributions.
If we take a break from everything , to the extent even from self ,just make our mind a watchful cat, then so many tremendous experience we can have and we can see what we do and what we think right from day to night...//////////

Being authentic these days is tougher than ever. So much Fake in the world that most are fearful of being themselves.
I say forget what others think! You are a blessing and if they dont like who you are then they don't deserve you.
I have to remind my daughter of this all the time. Hopefully, I'm instilling in here the value of authenticity.
Superficiality is everywhere. You have the right mindset to teach your daughters to be authentic. People will gain real respect for them and the best time to teach them that is NOW.

If you find an image of a line, you can add it the same way that you add any other picture.
The line is a vector image. I actually got that made by a friend. I have no idea how to make this myself which is why he made it for me. But the simple version is to find some sort of line that is a vector image and paste it into your posts.

everyone has got something to offer but the problem starts when they don't know how it work in the first i am trying my level best to help those out i try to help new people out and help them by telling them my experiences
Sharing your experiences with others is a good way for others to learn and grow. What we can do is teach people while at the same time inspiring them to be themselves.

@humanearl..nice post dear..in our comunity flaging is a very major problem for us..if we comment any fact what they post on the blog is it have any mistakes if we notice and comment that they are felt shy and useing their reputation and also power to flag our comments..this causes we got damage our reputation..
The flagging is abused. I agree. I would say just do your best to provide original content while being respectful of others. One thing to keep in mind too is that if you disagree with someone just remember to remain respectful. This goes a long way and it can help not be flagged.
