RE: How to Upload a Video to DTube - The New Video Platform for Steemit!

in #dtube7 years ago

I cannot get my video uploaded as it always complained about the snapshot. It said "IPFS Error while uploading. TypeError : Type Error" Any idea how to solve this? What exactly is the format/type of a snapshot? Thanks.

Hey @guyverckw! If I had to guess (as I am not a programmer or web developer, even though I dabble and work at a software development company with a ton of them and design websites with Visual Composer in Wordpress), I would say that it doesn't like the file format you are trying to use. I personally created a 1920x1080 image at 300 dpi, then when I saved it I exported it for the web through photoshop (which downgrades it to 72 dpi automatically) and just changed the pixel dimension there to about 1/2 the size so it would maintain its proportions. I saved as a JPG. What format did you use? I hope this helps - please try again with a smaller image at 72 dpi as a JPG and see if that helps - fingers AND toes crossed that it works!!

I too experience problems uploading my videos,
What is the recommended format for the video file?

I saved out formatted for youtube from premier pro - I did the 1080p, I think that was a big issue - but I wanted to make sure I maintained quality since it was a painting video..

I would try to stick with .mov or .avi - but it was very buggy with mine too - I had to try uploading 3 different times before I got the green check. I didn't change anything between uploads, I just kept re-uploading. Also, I feel like there are issues with the playback - it takes a bit of time for the videos to load. I have tried to watch several popular videos on there and I have had no luck watching an entire video because it will load, let me watch a bit then freezes again and never buffers any more. I'm sure it will get better with time.

Thanks for the detailed investigation and explanations. However, my guess was about the web browser or the OS. This is because I use exactly the same snapshot image on both iOS with Safari and Windows + Chrome. It worked on Windows + Chrome but not working on iOS + Safari.

Ahh, yes sounds like you nailed the issue there - I think you are on to something. Very interesting! Thanks for sharing that - this may be helpful for others who run into the same problem!
