RE: Confused About The Steem Alliance Foundation? - A Normies Explanation

in #dtube6 years ago (edited)

For me personally, I think a large part of the problem was with the choice to label it as Steem Alliance. I had followed it at the beginning and put in some input at some places...but I don't really do discord. So, at some point it got this name and suddenly there were all these proposals...yet somehow I missed a lot of these...and I think part of it was because many were labeled with Steem Alliance...which just sounds like another one of the tons of groups on here.

It also feels like there should have been a lot more discussion on the chain and resteems of all sorts of things. These things should have been unavoidable. Everyone on the chain should be discussing it...yet many people feel out of the loop.

I also think it was a mistake to do registration for voting on a poll to vote in another poll. That's just weird. I don't know if I'm even registered, since I may have voted late. There are also a ton of proposals to get through.

I've spent time off and on trying to read through them for the last two days, because somehow I missed most of this talk before now.

Might have been better to actually break them down into individual aspects to vote on, like non-profit vs tax haven, etc.

Though, truthfully, almost anything could technically work here, at least for a time, and likely be better than what it is now. There are tons of open source projects out there that do just fine with various different structures.

Edit: Oh, and as to your thought that you might negatively affect people's opinions...take a look around. This is the crypto world. Half the people think the other half is crazy, and some of them may be right about some of the others. We have people of all types here. We have a ton of people that are hated by a ton of the others. This is like all of the craziest of 90's forums rolled into one. If this place were a film franchise, it would be a post apolitical death world...with people taking selfies and advertising all sorts of weird things. Have you tried this latest snake oil? It will cure your herpes and make all the women around you blind with lust! This place is crazy...and it's home...and half the people hate the other half, but not the same half necessarily...but it's home. So, some might dislike you...that might mean that you're making your way up in the world. Just maybe try to make it obvious that you're just one of many.
