[dtube] and brave Browser. A great partnership?

in #dtube7 years ago (edited)

Hi all,
A few days ago I discovered the Brave Browser.

What is Brave Browser
Brave is a free and open-source web browser based on the Chromium web browser and its Blink engine, announced by the co-founder of the Mozilla Project and creator of JavaScript, Brendan Eich. It claims to block website trackers and remove intrusive Internet advertisements.

Here is a screen shot my time using Brave

So Brave browser blocks ads and Dtube doesn't have any. So how is this a good partnership?

Well Brave allows you to award your favorite site Basic Attention Tokens. BAT can be bought, can be earned and can awarded. Currently it supports YouTube, websites that authenticate. Twitch, Twitter and others will be awarded soon.

I have done some testing and it looks like it doesn't unfortunately award individual channels but will award Dtube directly. This could be a way to help @dtube grow and perhaps in the future individual accounts can be awarded.

BAT can be sold, but this is a really new technology, but like Steemit, Dtube, it could be huge and shake things up.
Just what the internet needs as its become stagnate.

Thanks for your time

I have had the Brave browser for a few months now. I absolutely love it! I will be checking out dtube also. I am absolutely sick of all the youtube adverts that have been implemented. Its almost unwatchable, and I'm sure many of you would agree.

We need to get @crypt0 , and the @X22report onto this platform. I would watch it there for sure over youtube with all the adverts!

@alhoppo

I agree. Thanks for your comment @alhoppo

No worries, I just also realised that @crypt0 is on dtube! Rock on!

This project seems promising and I have started using it. so far all good.

I use it for YouTube, and a few other things. Works great for that as YouTube is starting to do un-skip-able, albeit fairly short, ads (15 seconds)

It has a host of other privacy features as well.

BAT is a very interesting project and is aiming to change advertising as the way we know it. Recently free BAT was given away for desktop users on a first come first serve basis.

Plans to do similar again in the future, sadly mobile apps don't have brave payments yet. At some point further on in the project road map you will be rewarded BAT for watching adverts.

No doubt Brave is a very nice browser and becoming more popular very quickly, back when it was first released it was pretty good. Braves partnership with BAT I'm sure is making those big players nervous about ad revenue. If it can be pulled off there is nothing they can do to stop it.

I was lucky enough to be one of those 10,000 Brave users to get some BAT tokens. Looking forward to supporting my favorite content creators.

Nice!
Sadly I only have brave on a phone or tablet, they really need to get brave payments on mobile devices ASAP!
The Chromebook I'm currently using can't have brave yet :(. Waiting on google update to add the app store, ugh.

Hmm now I think about it a part of the BAT idea competes a little bit with Steemit and SMT but then again I guess it's possible to upvote and support a creator with BAT!
