Fugue State Audio - Monday Night Noise Session 032

in #dtube6 years ago

Welcome to the latest episode of Monday Night Noise Sessions! Though there is something of a rhythmic element in this one, it's more ambient/noisy, and there's nothing in the way of drums to be heard. Some pretty interesting sounds from the spectral cross-synthesis and granular processing going on though.

If this is your first time: Monday Night Noise Sessions are recorded live (as in all in one take, not live as in at a show), using a mix of hardware and software. I lack the bandwidth to do a proper live stream, so the videos are pre-recorded, but no editing is done to the performance.

Further details:

Audio gear/software used:

Kurzweil K2000S
DIY modular (Lunetta-style CMOS and analog stuff)
Modutronic Messmaker (DIY noise synth)
Behringer Virtualizer Pro & Composer Pro
Yamaha EMP700
Alesis Midiverb & NanoCompressor
ADA S-1000 delay
Korg KP-1 Kaoss Pad
Novation Nocturn
Tapco MIX260fx (12 channel mixer)

Plogue Bidule (VST host/DAW) with following plugins:
Subtek CMX844 (VST mixer)
Tiny God Heartburn (VSTi)
Fuzzpilz Oatmeal (VSTi)
grainfed (custom granular VST effect)
SimulAnalog Boss DS-1
SimulAnalog Univibe
ArcDev ET-301
Negspect Atlantis Filter
Cockos ReaEQ
Cockos ReaComp
Cockos ReaDelay
Nomad Factory Bus Driver
Variety of Sound EpicVerb
JB Barricade
Voxengo SPAN

Video was captured with OBS, titles added in kdenlive. The visualizer in the corner is VSXu: http://www.vsxu.com/

wow @fstateaudio. I love this one compare with your previous one. The effect and sound a bit different. Need to have a good sound system listen to this master piece of yours. And the right corner electric wave(not sure what it called). Brilliant idea. It changed with the sound, and it so lovely. Nice job. This piece took you how long to complete?

Thank you very much! The thing in the right corner is just a visualizer like the one that comes with many media players, but one that can be used on in coming audo (there's a link in the post if you want to check it out, it's called VSXu).

The question of how long it took to complete kind of depends on how you look at it. What you hear/see is done "live" in one take. However, I do set up the effects and stuff that I'm using beforehand, how long that takes depends on what I'm doing. This one probably took about an hour of set up time, which consisted mostly of patching up my modular stuff, loading up plug-ins, dialing in effects settings, and setting up looping sequencer parts for some of the synths I used. Occasionally I'll play some synth parts live, but not often (and not in this one). Most of the "performance" in these is usually more knob tweaking than instrument playing... controlling the levels of different parts, tweaking sounds, and keeping multiple feedback loops from getting too wild. Most of that is on the hardware side, which you can't see in the videos. That might change eventually, but I don't have the gear or setup to do that now.

Wow it look so complicated to me and you were so professional. And the results was amazing. I especially love this version. I very touched while listen to it. Fabulous piece of work @fstateaudio.

Thanks once again! I really appreciate it. :) I suppose it is a bit complicated, but like all complex things, it's made up of many simpler things... that gives me an idea for an article. :)

Thank you for sharing with us as well. Because it really interesting and new to me. Although it a bit complicated but the results were amazing. It unbelievable that with just a software /apps and your skill, it could delivered such a lovely music.

Thanks again for the kind words! :)

You are welcome. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!!
