Giving To Others...but only when they deserve it

This morning I am coming with the spirit of giving, but apparently only when someone deserves it. I'm kidding, that isn't how I roll, but I would like to talk about some experiences I have had and share my thoughts about giving with conditions.

As the Christmas season is approaches it is often seen as the season of giving. Most would associate it with money, gifts, and food. Is it really that simple, and why is it just during a couple of weeks right in the middle of winter haha.

A few years ago I met a man that used to give. He would give all of the time, and he would give large amounts of money. He would send it all around the world to support his religion and his idea of what needed to be done. Except, he would never give locally.

We lived in a very poor place, we lived in The Ozarks of Southern Missouri. It is a hard place there. People are run down and tired. There isn't much money or opportunity.

I remember once when I knew someone that needed to buy a car, but this man wouldn't sell a car to them because it would seem like charity, and I quote "they have already had their chance".

So it was seen by him that they had some sort of amazing opportunity here in the US and that his charity would be best for over seas in poorer countries. He is not the only person that I have encountered that thinks like this.

We are always so quick to be the judge, jury, and executioner when we meet someone. We view our charity as if it is the most amazing thing in the world, and that it should be reserved for those who deserve it.

When it comes to our love and charity, do we have to have standards? Do we only give to those that we think need it. When we see someone that needs help, do we try to play a game of "what is their back story", and then judge on how their situation SHOULD be.

As we are getting closer to Christmas, or what ever you may celebrate, I hope you all remember. It is the season of giving, but the limits are only set by us. Don't be caught as part of the seasonal charity, but remember that people need help all year....whether we want to acknowledge it or not.
