Shortly after we arrived in Elmina we wanted to see the town from a higher up viewpoint to get a better feel of our new home. So we walked up to Fort Coenraadsburg which is on a hill, very near to the Elmina Castle which we would visit on a later point.
Once we went through the main gate there was someone waiting for us so we can pay an entrance fee, which seems very unofficial but we were not starting to argue about it. The views were amazing, we especially loved seeing the lagoon fishermen harbor, with hundreds and hundreds of boats. I will be soon publishing a drone video about it.
We loved our visit to Fort Coenraadsburg and can only recommend a visit as well, especially right before sunset.
Watch out for our first Elmina Impression posts on our Ghana Travel Blog, don't miss it!

During the sunset should provide a very attractive view. The architecture somehow reminds me some fort have already seen somewhere else. It's just my impression. For that entrance fee did they ask you an extra amount of money just because you were not local?
