When you can't delete a DTube video/SteemIt post, you make the best of the situation!

Hi there Steemians!

I am new to Steemit, and yesterday, I made a mistake/found a glitch in the system!

Dun dun dun....

  • Newbies- please read on so you don't make the same mistake I did.
  • Veterans- please read on to let me know if there is a ways to fix it

After publishing my first post, I started looking at other people's content and came across @hanen Cat from Hell Contest (https://steemit.com/contest/@hanen/do-you-have-a-cat-from-hell-win-10-sbd-every-sunday)

I decided to enter and although it only called for a photo, I had snapped a video earlier that day of my beautiful angel, Neytiri, being playful and fiesty. I thought it would be a great idea to not only include a photo, but the video vas well.

So, I did what any Non-code-familiar Newbie Steemian would do... I scoured the internet to figure out how to upload the video.

I tried directly uploading it to the comment, that didn't work.

I tried uploading it to an external site and embedding it in the comment, but that didn't work either.

Then I remembered that DTube existed!

I went to DTube and tried to login. It asked for my private posting key, which I thought was my active login key and of course that didn't work.. I scoured the net again and learned that my Private Posting Key along with other Keys is in my Wallet.

(newbies- you find this in the drop down menu from your icon).

Great, now that I figured that out, I logged in and was able to make my first video.

I was so excited, but then I noticed that the snapshot I had uploaded didn't look right and by posting to DTube, a post on my SteemIT was created with the snapshot and video as well.
I didn't like the post, because it was very underwhelming, but I thought, no biggie, I'll just delete it.

But WAIT,

Drum roll please...

there is NO DELETE OPTION on the DTube video or on the associated Steemit post.

Some of you may be thinking, that's not true.

I mean I certainly didn't believe it at first. I thought, I must be doing something wrong. There has to be a way to delete this!

I scoured the web. I read on some peoples posts that there is a way to delete it as long as not a lot of time has passed. Well, my DTube video and the associated SteemIT post had only been live for a couple minutes and there was NO DELETE button between the reply and edit buttons. I read elsewhere, that if someone views your video, it becomes seeded and when you cannot delete the video at that point, you can still delete the Steemit post.

Alas, I think there is either a glitch in the system preventing me (and the countless others) from deleting our DTube associated Steemit post, or it simply isn't possible.

Ah well, Hakuna Matata! No worries!

YOU LIVE AND YOU LEARN

So, instead of worrying, I decided to make the best of the situation by turning this into a post about the glitch, to inform newbies and to ask veterans to address the issue.

For your amusement, I have added the photoof my cat, as well as the horrible quality video I cannot delete. Enjoy!

She is actually quite a sweetheart, but I love the dichotomy of her true nature versus what is displayed in, and thus will be inferred from, this video... ie that she is one of those "cats from hell"

With no delete button to remove a video make the site worthless. So that is why YOUTUBE is the best site over all the rest for video content.
