I sometimes wonder how Bitcoin enthusiasts bring other people on board the Bitcoin blockchain?
The technology is without a doubt awesome and very useful but what can you do with it in the end?
(besides the fact that it goes up in price)
Only one thing. Send it from A to B. (maybe to buy something).
But to 'join' the Bitcoin blockchain you first have to buy some Bitcoin with Fiat.
A major hurdle.
If you compare this with STEEM there is hardly a comparison.
It cost nothing to join the STEEM blockchain. In fact, it's the opposite, You are given a little bit of STEEM just for joining right now.
From there you can earn crypto by creating content, curating content, monetize the blockchain through development, selling your skills (like logo design) for crypto etc....
But there is more and I have been noticing this a lot.
The community is actively recruiting Steemians at an ever-increasing pace. (I think the increase in price has helped here a lot.)
From organizing a Twitter thunderclap, to small Steem meetings in Nigeria, to even the @blockbrothers wifes and girlfriends that have all become Steemians after some convincing ;)
All this is powered of course by a blockchain that is superior to most. With 3 second block times, no fees and capable of 1.3 million transactions per day at 0.11% load on the network.

Personally i would never advice anyone to buy bitcoin. I would never give financial advice, especially not on such a volatile asset. I also think that bitcoin is hugely overvalued when you look at comparatively much more interesting block chains.
What i would advice them to look into is stuff that i see working, or are beneficiary to the world. For example Power, Golem, or my favorite Steem. Stuff that has real world application, besides being a store of value.

It's not that I disagree, but I feel the urge to point out that the word overvalued is such a tricky one. Value is determined by supply and demand, in the end, so whatever the price for bitcoin is, is its "correct" price.
This is splitting hairs, though, since I know what you mean; STEEM can do everything BTC can, and more, and better.
The thing BTC has going for it is the brand and its first mover advantage.
Yeah, exactly, and i don't think that the first mover advantage is enough :) Technically you could value one bitcoin by calculating the power price it takes to produce one, but that doesn't make much sense either
I no longer recommend which crypto to buy to anyone anymore. I do however recommend joining STEEM because it's for free.
Very true. And i think a lot of people agree with you, which is why we are seeing the rise in user base. It's gonna be awesome seeing this continue
Yes, it's the beauty of steem blockchain, we can join for free and earn some handsome rewards for posting things and sharing knowledges just like on other sites but we have been doing it for free.

Yes it is! It's so refreshing to know people are becoming more aware of other blockchain technologies besides just BTC. Hopefully it will start to make them aware of the giant world of blockchains that await us, esp once SMTs are released. So excited about the future of such a supportive and vast network, that actually has the power to handle the large volumes of data, information, and people that IS inevitable.
It's def interesting trying to explain how the whole STEEM system works to most ppl, but after a little further explanation and checking things out themselves, most people at least start to come around. It def helps that there are so many people both here and on youtube explaining just how everything work, and attesting to the fact that this is not some ridiculous scheme or something... but instead a wonderful community and network of friends, family, and resources, where ideas, innovation, and creativity is encouraged to flourish!

Yes... Indeed steemit remains the best platform I'v ever belonged... I was first told by @kesolink who has been doing great works to promote steemit in Nigeria. I do think though, that we have a big bias towards content creation vs. consumption on the platform. Some big names in terms of creators have been recruited (popular Instagram and Youtube users for instance). Those will bring their followers also to Steemit of course. The question is whether it is just an extra medium for the creators to monitize their content (they usually keep on creating on the other media as well), or whether it will actually be the to-go-to medium for content consumption and interaction.
Maybe it is my personal frame of reference, but I think most new people (including myself) come to Steemit, primarily not to consume content, but create it and make some money out of that. When that actually turns out to be not as easy as they thought, they leave.
People that stay and give it time discover how great the community is and their 'I am here to create and make money/I am here to consume and interact'-balance shifts more to the latter part.
What do you think about this? Should we 'brand' the platform less as a way of making money and more as an awesome place to interact and consume? How can we tilt the balance so people come here with the right expectations and as a side effect raise the quality of the average post and comment?

that's the punchline over there @exyle. on steemit you mine the crypto by writing good and original contents. I always like to say to newbies "you get to stay in touch with reality and still stand a chance to make some cool money, while enjoying what you do". this is an amazing way of contrasting the STEEM blockchain from every other @exyle
Well said @exyle, on how to earn crypto. The one thing I love most is selling your skill and earn crypto. Some of my friends I introduce to steemit has just discovered some of there hiding talents which they do not believe is ever real or possible for them and now the talent is now part of them, and they are really earning crypto from it.

Steemit is growing exponentially. This is good for everybody but it is hard to keep up with the changes.You're right, the tree is sad. How about a nice palm plant in that corner? Having a green plant there is good feng shui.

I really think steemit is great place to express and to earn.I am new to steemit and I dont see much of my country people on steemit bdw I am from India .I got to know about steemit by my friend and when I check this is out.Its great,free and awesome!!I hope steemit trend in India too since we have some cryptocurrency issues in India but well hope for best !
Funny you just posted this. I uploaded a video on my YouTube channel about 30 minutes ago explaining Steemit and trying to educate people about it. I talked about the platform and how it works.
I love Steemit more by each passing day. It has an actual function and purpose, ordinary users don't need to pay to get in, it can showcase content like other sites but monetize it.
And even if you aren't a content creator, the users can write meaningful comments that generates money for them. So even if they don't have an interest in producing content, they can still acquire money by commenting and upvoting; something they have already done for years.
Yeah, I don't think there is any way Bitcoin or Facebook can keep up with this community! Sometimes I go check in on the new "introduceyourself" posts... Wow, they just pour in one after another while I'm looking at the feed. It's awesome. The more the merrier! Good vlog post.

Around ten of my friends joined steem in a half year. I wonder what will happen to steem If everyone brings at least ten people to the platform.

Steemit combines two of my major interests: writing and cryptocurrencies. However, it is really hard to make that transition from being "nobody" to being someone whose opinion is valued, especially if you don't have a big base of followers on some other major social platforms.
It is. I call this process the grind. It comes down to being consistent every day and enjoy creating the content that you make. And yes, it can take a lot of time.
Indeed, grinding and being patient can be rewarding, especially when the price of Steem goes up significantly like it did over the last few weeks.

This is true @exyle! It is easy to recruit new Steemians, aside from the fact that you have nothing to invest you can just show your earnings to non-members and definitely they'll be attracted to join. You're building a network for free.

After Mark Zuckerberg post about decentralization and cryto-currencies, the facebook investors are looking to diversify their investments on decentralize platforms like Steemit... This will definitely boost the growth of this great platform. Promoting Steemit would be much more easy now...

blockbrothers just got my witness upvote, why is because I can see you always promote recruiting steemians on your vlog and that is a great motive. what I could say is that there are lot of people out there who are yet to know about what steemit or steem is all about, for instance in my school, there are lot of students who are ready to join the platform due to the recent steemoou campaign which take place and still going due to awareness creation, without creating awareness about the platform many will still not hear about what steemit or steem is all above. Creating awareness is very vital in the visibility of a community
