Crazy Simple GUITAR — Lesson 1

Hey Steemians,

Several of you have written on my @DLive stream and my @DSound tunes that I should teach you guitar. Well, here goes! This is for seasoned players (you'll be amused by my method), and for absolute beginners. I've taught hundreds of people to play the guitar, and this is how I do it.

I have a very unorthodox approach to the guitar, and to all instruments. I have a PhD in classical composition, and I've been playing stringed instruments since the age of three (so, lots of years). But I don't play instruments the way you are "supposed" to, and I don't teach like most others do.

Where else to present an odd method for playing an instrument than the beautifully odd DTube network. This series will be presented exclusively here and on Steemit.

Give it a try. Tell me what you think, or link your DTube video of this lesson in the comments, and I'll check it out!

What a great approach. Teach people to listen first and get to know what a wonderful thing the acoustic guitar can be.

Thanks @camuel ! I always start people off this way. It's all about fear, and this allays that fear.

Cheers!

I have a guitar but I only plat very basic arrangements. I never studied music, I wish I had. I play a variety of instruments but my own way. Practising guitar now (very basic strums) to sing along so definitely looking forward the lessons.

Awesome @yidneth! :)

Did you know it was my pet rat who won my guitar for me? Seriously. Learning in her memory.

Explain! That sounds awesome.

I think I will do an article just for fun, in her memory, but short story is that there was a contest, and artist had to make a picture and ask why they needed the guitar. I made a pic all fancy in fairy garments, nothing, they gave a second chance and I took a pic of my rat with the banner. I want this guitar for my mum´s birthday and I did not win, but had votes from many rat lovers internationally and they delivered an extra guitar which happened to arrive just on my birthday LOL. So it´s Taika guitar, but I think I'll make a little blog about it with pics. Her names meant "Magic spell" had to be that LOL

What an awesome story!!! 🐀

That was a fun video!

Thanks, Gabby!

Great :) , Your a multitalent :), easy to follow, continue :)

Thanks! Cheers :)

You are awesome, multitalent a good teacher.Keep it up dear!!!!!!

Aw. thanks!

Holy shit I'm going to grab a guitar out of the closet now!

Awesome! I challenge you to the same thing as Liveyourdream! See my response to his comment :)

I loved how different and out of the box this was. I literally cannot wait to follow these each video and learn to play!!!

Awesome @slayerkm! It is definitely a bit out of the ordinary. I see an instrument kind of like a dog that you are meeting for the first time :) You can be best friends, but it will take a little while to get to trust.

Oh my god @drkent is starting to give guitar lessons here on DTube! Man this is so dangerous for me. You might make me pick up my guitar finally which is standing there in the corner for years now. I never really continued learning to play it because I’m just such an impatient guy...

Haha! That’s awesome @liveyourdream! I challenge you to learn to play and enter a tune in the #openmic contest. It might take a while, but it will be worth it :)

It might not only take a time but first of all I need to find some time. Haha :D

Haha! Just watch my videos with your guitar / in a couple months, you’ll be there :)

I only have an electric guitar, though about how this touching and knocking will work for this. Wait I'll give it a try... grabs guitar and knocks some of it works as well but not as good as on an acoustic one.

Electrics are also awesome. It has entirely different sounds! When it’s not plugged in, see what sounds the materials actually make :) Its just the same, actually! Then plug it in, and it works especially well.

This is the most unique and weird thing I have ever seen! You never cease to amaze me. I do like to sometimes just sit and tap the different parts of the body. Sometimes I would press it closer to my stomach in order to better feel and hear the chord resonate, the melody, so that it's easier for me to produce the correct sound as I sing. Looking forward to the next lesson!
Thanks for doing this!

Haha! Thanks man. I’m the same. For singing I actually dig resting my head on the side body of the guitar :)

This is officially my most popular, lowest paid post! Hahaha. I love it / it’s what this place is supposed to be about / Content that is fun to create and actually inspires somebody to DO something.

Cheers :)
