Hey Guys!
I have been posting really consistently on the platform for about 6-7 months and in that time, I have seen some pretty big changes in how new users get started on the platform. More specifically, I have seen a great opportunity open up for new users on Dtube.
When I first joined, it was extremely rare to see a new user pop up on the trending page, or to earn more than a buck or two on their posts. We just had to keep posting great content and hope and pray we got noticed!
The great thing about Dtube, is that they manually curate content. That means that if someone has great video content and posts consistently, they actually have a GREAT chance of being noticed by either the @dtube account or other Dtuber's!
I feel like we have a great community here on Dtube and we try to support each other. Well, I guess I can only speak for myself - but I try to follow as many fellow Dtuber's as I can!
Just to illustrate my point... here are a few examples of newer users that are CRUSHING it on Dtube.
@theaudgirl - She just joined 11 days ago and she is killing it so far! You guys have got to check her out. She's posting great video content and is super sweet to boot.
@furiouspete123 - He has been on the platform for less than a month and is already at 61 reputation! He has a huge youtube following and is a great new addition to the Dtube family! It's great to see how much success he has already experienced on the platform.
@paolajane and @spenceryan - This super cute couple just joined the platform back in December and they are kiiiiling it. They pretty much re-defined the idea of quality Dtube content. Their vlogs cover a variety of topics and are really cinematic in nature. If for some you reason you haven't run across them yet - go check them out!
I for one am super excited that new users that are posting great video content now have an awesome opportunity to get their videos noticed on Dtube!

Side note and silly question - how do you see when someone mentions you? I saw AskSteem.. is that the best way how? I just happened to stumble across this because I follow you but never want to ignore anyone!
Great question! The fact that it is not built into the platform to get notified when you were mentioned is a huge flaw in my opinion. You have to use some other third-party application to get those notifications.
I personally use Steemify, and I LOVE it! I believe it is only available in the App Store right now though, so if you use an android you might not be able to use it. It’s super easy to set up, and you can choose what notifications you want to receive. I personally like to see when I get a comment, when someone starts following me, when I get mentioned, and when someone gives me an upvote. You can establish a few more though if you like.
Yeah I am surprised that they don't have that built in! But that app is exactly what I am looking for, so thank you for the suggestion! I will be downloading right now. :) I just always want to make sure I am acknowledging those who read my articles or even mention me (like you did which was so freaking nice) so this will be a huge help. I'm so sick of Youtube and there censorship, I will give D.Tube a shot, I have tried many other video hosting websites that have failed. I hope D.Tube does well.

I have noticed that aswell most the people with lots of followers and upvotes get them from dtube because you can actually show your personality and people make connections with you

I think you are correct. Lately it seems that if you really want to be successful on the steem platform you have to go on Dtube.
I think there are other applications that are doing good work as well such as dsound and dlive - but video does seem to be a really popular way to share content!
Dsound seems to work better than dtube but it seems like most of the big earnings are on dtube now. I think I do prefer videos as well or it could just be the video makers are doing a better job than the writers. Have you went live yet?
I loved this post, it gives new Steemians like myself hope in diving into the platform. Its refreshing to see so much opportunity on this site given the over saturation of other sites such as YouTube and Reddit. As a content creator I am excited to share my interests with the community. That's why I came on d.tube in the first place.I was watching a video on how youtube is killing the small creators and someone told me to check out d.tube and steemit. So I took a look at it, and I really like it here :) It's really better than youtube
I have everything set up to start. Now to practice speaking into a camera and being engaging. I suppose it comes naturally to some people, but this is another aspect of the Steem-based social media services on which I'll have to work hard...
Truly steemit, Dtube is a best platform for many things such as it's a best platform for artists, dancers, musicians e.t.c, one having any sort of talent can get huge success from steem, and yeah there is a tremendous growth in steem and Dtube from previous months. I'll check out all the recommendations you made. This is the end of my first 14 days here on Steemit, and I'd like to start using DTune. It will be great to make a few friends there as I get more accustomed to the platform.
I JUST posted my first DSound audio but it's disappeared. Going to search for DSound tutorials to see what I did wrong. ;)

I have been around here for more than 20 days. Steemit is a wonderful platform but I'm not able to get noticed so far here. I haven't tried dtube uptill now but now I think I should try dtube for promotion of my content on your recommendation. Thank you so much.
this is really awesome platform for beginners and the ones who have talent, art or something, I have been on this platform for couple of weeks lately but i don't have any sort of talent or some special experience, I'm a simple man with hidden talent that is hidden even to my own self :p hope like you i may earn some more bucks a day in coming months... :)

This is so awesome. The encouragement for newbs like me is super inspiring. I have used Youtube a lot over the years but never really found a home there. Facebook Live was generally my goto hot spot although FB has so many resrictions it is difficult to get a regular list of followers.
You need to put in the work and effort if you want to get a audience on DTube Nothing comes easy, But its worth it ,been on the site for less than a month and iv got 54 followers already which to me is MIND BLOWING :)

I'm just at awe at how it's so much easier now for small time newbies who aspires to crate video content to have a fair chance at getting something out of their videos.
I would never have known people like @theaudgirl or @paolajane had they been posting videos on Youtube becuase the algorith really worked against them.

Those are some good points. It certainly gives something to think about when one is contemplating what sort of content strategy they should approach Dtube with.
Hey you seem like the resident expert around here, I just got verified today and have begun uploading videos and I want to be able to search for the people I've gotten to sign up for dtube as well and follow them but I can't seem to figure out how to actual search for a user. Is it possible to do that? Thanks in advance :)
Welcome to Steemit/Dtube!
If you know their usernames, you can type it into the actual menu bar. Check out the screenshot below to see what I mean. If I was looking for a particular user, I would just delete coruscate and put in their user name instead.
We are definitely still in beta testing! So sometimes things aren’t the most intuitive.
Ahh thanks you! I just figured out how to respond to comments lol , so to do it this way you need to get the spelling of their channel exactly it's not like a search function yet. Thats ok, I'll make due. Hopefully a searchy type function for channels will come in time :)
