The War of Ideas - A Stranger to Wisdom (Original Recording)

in #dsound7 years ago

A Stranger to Wisdom is the third track on my latest release with my indie rock band "The War of Ideas". It's a song about that moment when you realise you've messed up. When you know it's time to change because you know you can be better.

Lyrics:

I picked up the paper to bury myself cause every once in a while it's good for my health. And I searched all the columns for traces of where we went wrong

There's a tear on the sofa that we blame on the cat but we both know who's really at fault for the fact that we can't look past all this trivial shit for one minute

And when I finally think that the chatter's all dead some useless memory enters my head and it reminds me that I've been in worse places before

But you said it's over
when you said it's over
I said tomorrow is another day

You said it's over
Yeah you said it's over
And I looked at you and I smiled at you
I looked at you and I said
Tomorrow is another day

I took a ride on my steel horse to calibrate my tact. Make some sense of all the nonsense I've been parading as facts. And if I just tune out, will it all just blow itself away?

I switch it off because I don't want the invaders in my home. And I switch it on because I can't deal with this silence in my own. I guess there's good reason for saying that ignorance is bliss

But you said it's over
when you said it's over
I said tomorrow is another day

You said it's over
Yeah you said it's over
And I looked at you and I smiled at you
I looked at you and I said
Tomorrow is another day

So when tomorrow's nearly here will I have wasted my chance? Stumbled on my two left feet and ended this dance? Or will you still love me just like you did yesterday?

But you said it's over... You said it's over...

Yeah you said it's over
You said it's over
And I looked at you, and you frowned at me
I looked at you and you just frowned at me
I looked at you and I said... I love you

i listened on dsound - very cool. i like the way your voice carries - i think in some ways we have similar vocal styles (but very different as well hehe).

ive never heard of dsound - is it very good? im new to publishing my songs online and just have a few on soundcloud - would you recommend dsound as well?

also love the bike! do you ride?! im a rider as well. bmw k100, and so in love ;)

Hey @itinerantsrtist thanks so much for listening! I agree, I think think you and I have a similar phrasing style. I'm looking forward to hearing more of your songs.

I don't know much about dsound either but I've never earned a cent from soundcloud so in that regard dsound is way out front already 😄

I do ride and the bike was mine but I sold it last year. I miss it terribly but my daily commute was a pretty dangerous stretch of road. I hope to get another bike in a year or two. Riding a motorcycle is a freedom that's hard to replicate.

im right there with you 100%.
there is physical freedom in riding and an emotional freedom in writing :)
