Sylk...

in #dsound7 years ago (edited)

Ha ha.

I was going to leave this off my dSound, as it was only an instrumental that seemed incomplete without lyrics. But, fuck it. Maybe there's somebody that'll enjoy it - as it is a lovely work of art unto its own, regardless.

Funny...

This beat begun with the inspiration of my iPhone alarm. (Name: "silk.")

One morning, it went off, and the idea came to build a beat around the melody.

So, I found a harp plugin, created the melody, and got to work from there.

Next thing ya know, this song came unto its own...

Still, this work sounds incomplete without lyrics.

Upon completion, I had been contemplating who it'd be a good fit for. And given the smooth R&B vibe, it was Usher that came to mind - his voice seemingly particularly well-fit for the verses, although a somewhat different direction than the music he'd been putting out at the time.

As to whether anything might ever come of the track - turned into a remix, or given away to an up-and-coming vocalist... who knows. Perhaps not, as I don't even think I have the original stems anymore.

Whatever the case... t'is a pleasant treat to revisit.

And though it's humbling to confess, relistening to this almost makes me wanna cry.

Alot of magic went into these tracks. Some amazing moments had, during those years in Bali - the energy of which was directed into these musical compositions.

The tears that wanna come... part, from inspiration. And part, from sadness.

I mean, fuckkkkk. This stuff is good. I had some serious skills. And a part of me is sad that those skills were never put to better use, that tracks like these were never fully-developed and grown out with vocalists that could do them justice, and brought to a wider audience that could appreciate them.

But, life takes its own course.

And at this point, I'm not sure that is the life I really want, even if I could have.

The contemplations and emotions, music can stir up.

Perhaps even moreso, when it's your own.

a shot from a DJ gig I'd played around the same time this track was produced

Regardless...

It's a pleasure to dig this one up out of the vault and share here on dSound with the Steemit community, such that it reaches at least a few more sets of ears.

And it is my hope that should you choose to listen, you'll be inspired and get a taste of the inspiration and magic that went into this work of art.

Do listen on a set of quality headphones and/or speakers for an optimal listening experience.

And enjoy!

Good post:)

Seriously when I go to see your post yesterday so I decided to stick around. The way you organize your words is something I will personally want to learn from you. And your conclusion is one of the general people most lover of music pass through, having a quality headphone and/or speaker.

hmmm...

not sure if it's something that could really be taught... though if you were to read enough of my work and really tune into the subtle details, you'd probably be able to pick up some of the structure and secrets.

plenty to learn from if you scroll back, and surely more ahead... :-)

Hi @rok-sivante,

I think someone will rob you, you have a vault like a barrel of treasure, you have a lot of valuable things in it.
Someone from Bali maybe, or anyone who likes @dsound.
😂

well, this music wasn't made not to be heard. hopefully, if anyone were to use it, they'd give credit. if not, well, at least it'd be getting appreciated and heard... :-)

I hope so.
But I think it's worth it, it's just that they have not found you yet.
If they know you have a the iron wardrobe is magical, I think you will be buried with gold coins. 😂

Sounds really good @rok-sivante. I usually stick to cryptocurrency posts on Steemit, but I love music, so thought I'd come and check out some of your work. I can definitely see this as being an Usher type of song, maybe not with his latest music, but some older stuff.

while listening to the rhythm of the music you share I slowly write this with a very calm, very regular rhythm and mengayutkan me, you are incredible, let me download some of your R & B music, I like it very much, hansfree in my ear is perfect with the bass boom and the sleek piano arcade, I give you a thumbs up,

Why you should leave.

This kind of feels like... Bali at night haha.

Sounds like the main theme of one of those Old School RPG games.

Probably a Game Boy Advance RPG or one of those from RPG Maker.

Hheehehe.
Cheers man!

By the way, thanks for the couple of upvotes on my posts... they are HUGE for me and deeply appreciated!
