Big Bang Buddha...

in #dsound7 years ago (edited)

Oh man...

So this is one of last productions in my vault to be posted in dSound. (At least until I get back to the studio life).

And as with the last few, it's one I've kept locked up because it's been "incomplete" (lacking a vocalist).

As an instrumental, sure, it's dope.

But it really needed a sick MC on it for justice to be done.

Regardless...

Having good music sit locked away where no one can here it kinda defeats the entire purpose of making it. If it's imperfect... fuck it.

If I get inspired relistening to it, there's surely someone else out there who may also dig it - even if it is "only" a beat and not a full-scale commercialized hit.

So...

I kinda wish I remember how I did the drums on this, as they're siiiiiiiick.

(Not even sure if I still have the original project files, or could open them).

The last few years during producing, I'd been playing around with alot of trance-ish synth lead sounds, fusing them into more hip hop club type stuff. This was an interesting experiment in that fusion, with those synth stabs over those crunchy drums.

But damn, those drums through those verses.

Phat. Crunchy.

Those reverse claps.

The kick fills.

The chorus part... meh. The piano... meh. The break... meh.

But holy shit.

I really oughta dig up the project files and see if I can salvage that drum kit...

a snapshot from one of my DJ gigs, those years in Bali around the time I produced this.

Whether anything shall ever come more from the track, or it was merely a stepping stone... time shall tell.

Though at the least, a few people will have heard it - and hopefully be even a fraction of as stoked as I've been through it's production and listening back these years later.

May your listening experience - preferably optimized with quality headphones and/or stereo - be one of enjoyment and upliftment...

Sort:

That kick drum was huge dude. Sounds to my ear like a breakbeat sample with a drum machine (Linn Drum? Were you hip to that devasting machine when you made this?) tucked underneath.

I dig the track but you gotta salvage that kick dude. Sample pack ready!! Grats on some Dsound success man!

Haha, thanks.

No breakbeat samples, just did a great job processing the drums I used. Unfortunately, tried to go back to the project file, but couldn’t really salvage as I’d uninstalled some of the plugins and samples used. Might have to give it a second try... :-)

It's dope ! I think Tyler the Creator would be nice... ✌️

The music was very beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Because I'm a music lover.

Little bit of 'MJ' in thetr @rok-sivante sir.....i feel the beats i grown up listening ...to it

Hey Rok!

Look, I'll give you honest criticism here as I wouldn't like the same done to me.

I like it... BUT that part with the piano starting at 1:50.. it is too cool to have the beat so strong... The drum is too intense for my taste in this section.

Nevertheless.
Good Job!
Cheers!

hmm dope

This sounds great... ✔ Have you registered this with BMI or ASCAP? I can see a Netflix movie paying you to use this instrumental... Seriously... I would look into that if you haven't already.

haven't. was thinking about licensing possibilities years ago, though didn't stick with it. felt I had a ways more to go in outputting consistent quality at a steady pace. have been inching back towards picking up production again - especially since posting on dSound may prove a decent way to monetize the developmental process. also curious about what other types of platforms and opportunities may open up with blockchain giving way to new licensing structures. so, idea may not have been followed through upon, though still possibilities there.

I appreciate the feedback. 😊🙏

No problem. You're very talented. Glad to hear you're getting back into production. Keep up the good work.
