RE: Our greatness (original poetry)

in #dsound7 years ago (edited)

Thank you @d-pend for an inspiring poem.

Through myopia of vision, unimaginative, unable
To see but the vague tenor of their greatness

Now reaching middle ages I see that stagnation has blinded me from the greatness that I can be. In youth I was idealistic and crazy emotional but in its own time and place I could see the greatness. There is greatness in every human soul and when our own limitations are taken off then the greatness is displayed.

I can see the greatness in each human unfolding and see that greatness in me catch on fire.

This is where our Mencious quote fits it:

When heaven is about to confer a great responsibility on any man, it will exercise his mind with suffering, subject his sinews and bones to hard work, expose his body to hunger, put him to poverty, place obstacles in the paths of his deeds, so as to stimulate his mind, harden his nature, and improve wherever he is incompetent.

Enjoy your weekend :)
