THIS SONG IS A MISTERY TO ME
LISTEN TO POWER OF LOVE ON DSOUND
This is one of the song that I have retrieved not so long ago, and it was supposed to be the intro of my second album.
The original title was "Get Me David Ike On The Line" but was obviously a tiny bit long, and didn't make much sense for people not familiar with this author.
The title got reworked to "Power Of Love" or "Flower Power" but I lost the song when my hard drive passed away.Shame!
Ever since that day I back up everything continuously, for fear of the same incident happening again
I managed to get a version of the song that I sent to someone to get feedback.
Most people don't answer these type of emails at it goes straight to their spam box, but lucky me, I managed to get it back once more.Nothing is ever lost on the internet.
LISTEN TO POWER OF LOVE ON DSOUND
It is a weird song indeed, I really struggled to get an equal sound on that one track i retrieved, as it's just a lot of basses and a falsetto voice.
The first sentence kicks in "The World Is a great Illusion" and then that beat drops, making it one of my favorite song by far, even if the equalization is disgusting, it saturates all the way, there's only one verse and one chorus, then the rest of the song is some spacey instrumental, with the use of inverted vocal samples, to finally resolve on the same note that it starts.
There is something about this song..I am gonna have to put the lyrics because you can barely hear me.
The World is a great
Illusion, where it's hard to perceive the different realms we live in
And where fate is dictated by birth
Open your eyes to the great, Illusion
you have been given a voice to speak
Don't let them curse you x 2
Let your spirit lead the way
Don't cover your own eye to pray
Let your spirit lead the way
Feel the power, feel the power of love
The technical influence for the song at the time was James Blake, Sly and the Family Stone.
"Let your spirit lead the way" means that there is a certain way that events unfolds in your life,, every stories, every turns you take has its purpose, and life has to run its course, it will set in motion other events that you cannot control. Predestination
I am reworking on the song at the moment from the scratch , and quite frankly struggle to get the same vibe that I got at the time, so I decided to just show you this old version, as it has so much charms, especially these effects in the intro.
LISTEN TO POWER OF LOVE ON DSOUND
It allows me as well to see what works or not for my second album, as people on steemit have relatively good taste, I can weed out the songs that don't have as much appeal.
I hope you enjoy this song made with love :)

@edprivat brother you just continue to amaze me. I find myself in so many of your songs!!! Love will save us all that's for sure. Stay awesome!
You always have the nicest things to say and .... and.... and .... I am lost for words hahahaha
I like the juxtaposition of the amazing high timbres and soaring quality of the vocal and the simple downbeat arrangement. A very unusual song but no less effective for all that.
I am so pleased to see people reacting to it , it's the same feeling as saying a joke and having people laughing at it, I am like "that dude gets it"
Okay so I’ve definitely become one of your biggest fan lmao- I’ve been playing music my entire life and I like plenty of musician but admire less. My best friend and former member of a band I was in, is someone whom I’ve always admired.
As of lately, I’ve learned to admire all of your music. It just speaks to me like all of my favorites do. I appreciate what your doing @edprivat- keep it up
I've waited so many years to share my new material, because I am surrounded by musicians, and they always have a very critical mind set when listening to someone else's work, and I always end up being disappointed of their reaction,
So I can't tell you how good it feels to have a musician not only encouraging me, but really enabling me to reach higher grounds. That's dope bro @theessential thanks
People have no doubt envied you over the years...
Musicians are vindictive and jealous people a lot of the time unfortunately...they like watching other musicians fail rather than succeed like it’s some kind of big competition. Not all musician but I’ve certainly experienced this... I played in a band at one point back in high school that did a lot of old rock and blues. We were hated by all the other bands in the area because - A: we didn’t play the same kind of music as everyone else. B: we had won every battle of the bands/ competition we entered and C: We were professional and serious about what we were doing and ran things like a business.
I hated the relationships we had with the other musicians.
This continued after high school as I played with more people in college. I remember distinctly, jamming with these two really talented guys one day between classes. I just pulled out my Guitar and jammed a solo or two and I could tell they both hated me like I was stealing their show. That was never my intention. I’m not a show boater and never have been.
Weeks later a friend of mine reintroduced me to them- thinking we had never met haha
They obviously remembered me- and asked me to play a show with them. A week later we played one of the best gigs I’d ever played.
Anyways- I feel you. I have your back 100 percent. Not only do I like your music but it seems like your a great dude. You deserve every bit of success you have here- and I’ll support you all the way Bro.
Peace.
Duuuuuude! I just saw your comment today, I apologize because it is a gem. Funny that you just made a post about "how to comment", then you come drop the mic here like a boss hahah.
Everyone, this is how you write an amazing comment
Haha, I try to comment like I do in real life. Or rather, I like to be myself here on Steemit. I’m not a superficial person and what I say is genuine.
Thanks for the shoutout Bro..
Oh and thanks for checking out my song. Hopefully there will be some more to come. I’m trying to get back into recording and playing more often. I need to just commit.
Nice song love it
Thanks !
It's interesting.. I like it
Thanks friend, it means a lot :)
The song itself is dope and also is passing a message across
Great write up
That's a very nice thing to say, thanks for passing by @tholluwacoded :)
Hey nice job. You owned it.
What's your vision for what will make this song better?
It has an old school vibe.
That's some serious ninja question :P. I want to be able to recreate these weird backing vocals, and maybe a real drum ??Cause the drum is a virtual instrument right now .
And a lot of backing vocals, especially on the second part. what do you think ninja?
I think you've got what it takes to do what you want with your music, so go for it. The only thing I noticed that I would change wasn't musically, it was just a little bit of 'air' noise that could be mastered out.
Keep up the good work.
That's constructive man, I appreciate the input. Yeah that's actually a one track that I doubled with EQ and compression, because I don't have the project anymore . I used a maximizer to get a bigger level.
Well after that many good feedback on the song I am going back to the drawing board and rerecord everything.
Alright, I'll look forward to it.
Reaper is a great audio tool, and in case it might help, here's a YT link with a fair walk-through of how to use its built-in compression:
Thanks for sharing your music.
Dope thanks watching it
