Tool - Ænema (Cover By Ed Privat)

in #dsound6 years ago (edited)

This is Ænema by Tool , it's a Rock Band, very good, I went for a dry acoustic arrangement, as raw as it can get. For some reason it took me more time than expected!!

The song explore nihilism, the title is a reference to Carl Jung's Ænema, Anima and Animus, the whole album was dedicated to Bill Hicks, a satirist comedian , and some of the words of the song are supposed to be a word for word rant that Bill Hicks had once about LA, like "See you in Arizona Bay" I decided to change the lyrics a bit too (the kids were at home), I hope that you enjoy !

Tool - Ænema

Some say the end is near Some say we'll see Armageddon soon I certainly hope we will I sure could use a vacation from this
Nonsense three ring circus sideshow of Freaks
Here in this hopeless bitter hole we call LA The only way to fix it is to flush it all away Any given time, any given day Learn to swim, see you down in Arizona Bay
Fret for your figure and Fret for your latte and Fret for your lawsuit and Fret for your hairpiece and Fret for your Prozac and Fret for your pilot and Fret for your contract and Fret for your car
It's a Nonsense three ring circus sideshow of Freaks
Here in this hopeless bitter hole we call L.A. The only way to fix it is to flush it all away Any given time, any given day Learn to swim, see you down in Arizona Bay
Some say a comet will fall from the sky Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves Followed by fault lines that cannot sit still Followed by millions of dumbfounded Lost Sheep
And some say the end is near Some say we'll see Armageddon soon I certainly hope we will I sure could use a vacation from this
Stupid shit, silly shit, stupid shit
One great big festering neon distraction, I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied
Learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim
Mom's gonna fix it all soon Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be
Learn to swim
Flush L Ron Hubbard and Flush all his clones Flush all those gun-toting Hip gangster wannabes
Learn to swim
Flush retro anything Flush your tattoos Flush all you junkies and Flush your short memory
Learn to swim
Flush smiley glad-hands With hidden agendas Flush these dysfunctional Insecure actresses
Learn to swim
'Cause I'm praying for rain And I'm praying for tidal waves I wanna see the ground give way I wanna watch it all go down Mom please flush it all away I wanna see it go right in and down I wanna watch it go right in Watch you flush it all away
Time to bring it down again Don't just call me pessimist Try and read between the lines
I can't imagine why you wouldn't Welcome any change, my friend
I wanna see it come down Burn it down Suck it down Flush it down

Cool cover of a great song. I love the power of that album

Thanks buddy I had a request for Lateralus , which is 9 minutes :) of pure madness...
Man can we just go back to the 90s - 00s?

Ed, this was a fun take on this song! Aenema was one of my friends favorites songs, and we recently lost her, and hearing this put a smile on my face!

Man I am sorry to hear about your loss @danchick, thanks for sharing your story, I am sure there's a sort of a cosmic resonance through the song now, like a residue of her spirit, that's what I love about music.
Dude, you got some sick pictures HERE
I would love to use some for art cover of my EP! Amazing work I'll subscribe your Youtube Channel too

Omg I love this song, I need to do it , that's a classic, the Rhythm is crazy in that track and I would have lots of fun with an acoustic version ! Thanks for the idea :)

Holy cow Ed , i liked it more than the original !

Seriously??!!! Thanks dude, especially coming from you dude. cheers bru

I'm dead serious man ! So much more intimate and brings the strong point of the song much more directly . And your voice fits this song ... absolutely amazing !

Thanks buddy, I recorded it a day when the children where at home, so I couldn't swear at all, so i replaced all the profanity with other words...
