The U.S. Naval Academy now has a drug scandal brewing.
The United States Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) wwas informed of a problem three months ago. It was notified that midshipmen were selling drugs on campus.
Current reports estimate ten midshipmen were part of the** elaborate scheme to supply midshipmen throughout the Naval Academy with powerful drugs including cocaine, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), and Ketamine**. Fox News specifies the criminal ring used Bitcoins to purchase the drugs on the dark web then distributed the product throughout campus.
Wednesday morning, the Academy conducted a surprise drug test for all 4,500 midshipmen at 5:30 AM.
Fox News has obtained the names of the midshipmen who have tested positive for drugs but says the names will be withheld as the investigation is ongoing.
Since charges have not been brought against any of the suspected midshipmen, Fox News is withholding the names of those implicated. Two are prior enlisted midshipmen who had spent time in the fleet before gaining appointment to the Naval Academy, which educates and trains young men and women to become officers in the Navy or Marine Corps. One of the midshipmen tested positive on a drug test in early January after returning from Christmas break, adding more urgency to the investigation, according to one midshipman.
This is potentially the biggest drug scandal in USNA history. In 2010-2011 27 midshipmen has their careers ended because of synthetic marijuania use. Since that time, 7 have been expelled for drug use.
Their is zero tolerance for drug use meaning that everyone who tests positive most likely will see their Naval careers end even before they begin. It is possible this runs into the hundreds before it is all over.
A drug scandal amidst the U.S. Naval Academy!!!! and used bitcoin to finance the process!!!! this is a huge score to the critics. They are now going to use this as another platform to decampaign cryptocurrency.
One thing people should learn though is that bitcoin is just like any other currency. Even without using bitcoin, the midshipmen could have got a way to sell the drugs using the US dollar. The US dollar on record is used to finance more illicit and illegal activities in the world than any cryptocurrency out there. So let the critics not take advantage of this situation to fight the growth of cryptocurrency.
One thing for sure is we condemn this act in the Naval. This is one of the most disciplined US departments that takes long to have cases like this in their midst. This has come in their records as one of the biggest drug scandals in USNA history. It has given them a bad image they have not come close to having in such a while. Good they got the culprits that misbehaved.. let them clean this mess out and move on. The world is counting on them for security to start investing a lot of time in this case.
Thanks for this update @zer0hedge.
Funny how they ALWAYS mention BTC in any negative way they can...
Obviously these naval brats didn't do their homework with crypto (Uh Monero..)
Or use TOR (which the US Navy created)
I could imagine if they drug tested the reservists...but that won't happen.
Then again this only made news because its the Naval Academy.
(for those who don't know, this is the 1% of the US military...
i honestly dont agree with its entrance requirements or should i say what's needed to be able to apply.
It's created for a select class (great grades aren't enough)...and unless you fit its criteria ...you aint going in)
Great post @zer0hedge
That´s not very good to see/read, this type of things usually happen when you have bad company.
Some of this young mens are in a lot of troubles, especially because of what they represent for the nation. They are supposed to do the opposite.
Drug use is a problem across the military. This issue in many ways is related to the lack of spiritual resilience amongst our troops, and this is something that MOF is working to address. Our forces are mostly physically fit, well trained, and mentally tough, but there is a lack of spiritual fitness. Mind, body, and spirit are the legs of the stool that uphold warriors in combat. Lacking any one of these three poses a risk to these individuals. As you may recall in the story about the "Crimes of ST6", many of the guys had chosen to affiliate with various pagan traditions (American Indian, Viking, etc.). This is true throughout the military, and it is a way for guys without spiritual resilience to attempt to fill that void. The combat environment is one where these spiritual deficiencies can have a far reaching impact on the individual in a way that simply residing in the US and doing your thing doesn't.

Bitcoin seems to be popping up everywhere. Where there is an opportunity to make money, greedy people will always be there to take advantage of the situation.
Wow they used Bitcoin instead of Monero. smh
It has been claimed that the the scholarship to a US Military Academy is worth $1 mln.
That is truly something. Wouldn't have any desire to be one of those folks who tried positive.
Drugs in the United States Naval Academy should make you furious. It threatens our national security because it lowers the readiness of our midshipmen to become efficient officers. Drugs undermine the authority and strict order that fuels military efficiency. And of course, drugs damage the health of the men and women who are protecting this country. As drugs flourish throughout the military, are we witnessing another crack in the American empire?
thanks @zer0hedge
I think drug problems are always going to be an issue when you have guys that are 20-something alpha types being influenced by other alpha types. You're going to get bar brawls, copious drinking, amphetamines for partying, and possibly opiates to make the pain of basically being a long-term athlete go away. You try to get rid of that personality type and you're going to have a hard time making quotas for guys willing to freefall out of planes, dive in water, and blow shit up. That dude that doesn't do shit on the weekend except exercise is a fucking weirdo anyways. I think the biggest problem is if some of these guys are getting caught soon after they finish their initial pipeline. It used to be you completed BUD/S and went through a probationary period before you got your trident. You didn't do a lot of advance training until during that time or after it. Now they have SQT and these guys pissing hot right after it are costing Uncle Sam a shit load of money. But again I think it comes with the territory.
wow. That's really something. Wouldn't want to be one of those guys who tested positive.
Thanks for the regular updates.
Happy to see that it's come out , i hope people will pay the price you must to respect the navy and you can not do drugs on the navy
Bitcoin have nothing to do with it
if some one want to get drugs he will do it this way or anther pay with Bitcoin cash or anything he can get a hold of
the main thing here is the drugs that must to be stooped
Time to end the drug war and get addicts help.
There are always a few bad apples in each year's class at service academies. It is a shame that a dozen or two at Annapolis give the other 4,000+ a bad name plus damage the USN's reputation. Good move conducting a no-notice drug test on the entire Brigade of Midshipmen. Zero tolerance, the problem will be corrected.
There's lots to like about our service academies, and there's a lot that anyone with any perspective can criticize about them. In the past, it has been normal to lose 30 to almost 40 percent of a class of cadets over their four years. Almost all bad apples go but even more pretty good people who just don't make the grade. What you can expect from those who do graduate are dedicated and talented performers and emerging leaders who will, with courage, do the job our nation expects of them.
they must be buying that cocaine Obama let Hezbollah smuggle in.
great & awesome!
Come on. I wanna hear it. Bitcoin is bad Mkaay...dark web, criminal activities, funding terrorism blah blah bullshit. Come on, media you can do it.
I think there is something wrong with the U.S government these days. If the Navy guys can start dealing with drugs, then the country may be at risk. Remember, drugs are addictive and a minor drug deal always attract more Navy guys to increase on the level of traffic as their fortune increases.
Furthermore, they are dealing with Bitcoin. This is the worse part now. Remember, Bitcoin is decentralised. So, no one has control over it and they are independent accounts. Unless they themselves reveal the transactions, no one can make it through their accounts. I think the U.S army, police, FBI and other agencies have lost focus and just doing things off head without following rules and regulations.
They should work on the issue of the county's credibility by making sure that each sector is fulfill it's particular and expected task without breaking the law.
If not north Correa & Russia may use those corridors. Lol
The Naval Academy and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service recently initiated a command-assisted investigation in Annapolis after receiving a midshipman report of alleged recreational drug use within the Brigade,” said Cmdr. David Mckinney, a Naval Academy spokesman, in a statement to Fox News.
“The results of the investigation are still pending. We are continuing to work with NCIS on these reported allegations. The Navy has a zero tolerance for drug abuse and takes all allegations of misconduct very seriously.
This post very nice..i like bitcoin,,i appreciate your blog..thanks for sharing this post,,,best of luck.
The USNA had always been a pressure cooker. I recall many a time when I was issued prescription drugs for post-wisdom teeth and other surgeries that a midshipman (who barely knew my name) would come into my room and beg me to part with or sell my medication to them. To be honest, I'm not sure how many Steemit users went to the USNA, but if the demand calls for it, I have numerous anacdotes and stories I could post about this topic and others in this very narrow scope of military life.
