OTC Legal Adderal: Propylhexadrine Review (Benzedrex)
I first came across this compound when searching for legal highs similar to Adderal. I had tried ephedrine and other legal stimulants like caffeine but was not satisfied with the result I got. After delving into online forums i came across a column about Propylhexdrine or Benzedrex. Benzadrex is an over the counter nasal decongestant inhaler infused with menthol and other oils. It comes in a small inhaler tube when is inserted into the nostril and inhaled and gives immediate decongestant effects. The active ingredient is Propylhexadrine which is a moderate stimulant when ingested orally and has been used in Europe as a weight loss drug marketed as Obesin. In order to get the stimulant effects you need to "crack" open the inhaler and expose the cotton wick. You will notice that there is a yellow stain unevenly spread throughout. These are the active ingredients, the rest of the wick is just cotton. It is recommended to take precautionary measures when dosing to asses your tolerance but in my experience I found if you have no stimulant tolerance a quarter of a wick is enough to gain the desired effects. it is easiest to cut a portion of the wick and either swallow with a beverage or put it in a capsule and swallow (the taste is extremely intense due to the abundance of essential oils but i found it not to be that bad if swallowed quickly with water). In order for effects to be felt you must take this 2 hours at least prior to eating or drinking but is best taken before your first meal of the day. it is also advised not to overdue the swallowing of the Cotten because of the risk of impacting your digestive system. you can find how to do an extraction but i found the easiest way is to soak the wick in orange or lemon juice and leave overnight.Below is a list of subjective effects and experience log.
Subjective Positive effects:
-Stimulation
-Mental stimulation
-Physical stimulation
-Increase in drive
-Increase in Energy
-Increased appreciation
-Classic stimulant effects
-Increased mental focus at moderate to low doses
-Euphoria and extreme mental stimulation at higher doses
Subjective negative effects:
-Increased Anxiety
-Increased heart rate
-Decrease in appetite
-Vasoconstriction( This is extreme compared to any other stimulant i have ever tried)
-Dry Mouth (increased at higher doses)
-Jaw clenching
-Inability to sit still at higher doses
Subjective experience:
12:00pm- Took about one quarter of a wick 30 minutes before babysitting siblings.
12:45pm- Felt a slight stimulation and appreciation for the world creep up along with energy similar to a cup of coffee.
1:00pm- found myself wanting to listen to pop music which i usually am not a fan of and proceeded to dance for a little while thoroughly enjoying it.
1:30pm- Took a break from to get some school work done but found myself hyper focused on a doodle i had started and continued for two hours. ( this is extremely unusual as I extremely ADHD and diagnosed). I found the more stimulation from outside sources ie. Television and radio the more i was able to focus on the task at hand and sit still.
3:00pm- Re-dosed another quarter wick and proceeded to clean my house until dark.
12:00am- Found myself crashing but not in unpleasant way. Felt more like a took a mild sedative but my mind was still active. Took my dog for a walk and ate some dinner. No depression like with some stimulants although I rarely get this effect besides for entactogens like MDMA.
2:00am- Took some melatonin and tried to sleep. did not fall asleep for a half hour but wasn't that unpleasant.
Conclusion: After this experience i was definitely loving this compound. I continued with it for two weeks straight and was able to get a lot of things done that I wouldn't have otherwise. In my area it is extremely cheap (four dollars) and for a while i was able to get three or four doses from it. I stopped for a while because my tolerance had increased and my Adderal prescription was refilled but i would definitely recommend this for people that have issues with attention span and don't have access to other things. Let me know your guys experiences with this drug good or bad!
What are the long term effects?
I would assume they are similar to chronic stimulant use. One thing that found was a quicker increase in tolerance compared to other stimulants which led to a large crossover tolerance. Thanks for reading.
