⛅️ Dream Interpretation - Carrying "Home" Wherever We Go

in #dreams7 years ago

Stars want to be seen.
Dreams want to be dreamed.

Dreams offer us the insight of the guide inside. In my understanding, dreams present certain truths about us, revealed by the subconscious, presented in the form of a puzzle. And this puzzle may be interpreted in ways that bring us real insight and deep meaning. This method of dream interpretation is inspired and supported by the work of Carl Jung.

The Dream

Last night I dreamt that [Jane] and I were in a house/truck. In the dream we started in a house but somehow ended up in my truck. We had been intimate...but I didn't enjoy it as much as I had thought I would. We were parked somewhere near a ledge, overlooking a cliff that dropped off into a huge body of water. I knew we were going to fall off the cliff. But strangely, I wasn't as scared as I should've been. I knew if we fell off, which I was pretty certain of, that we would have to climb out and swim up to the surface to live. There was a moment I knew we were going under and I made a plan to wait and then go pull up the blinds and slowly open the window so I could swim up. I remember the water coming in, in slow motion almost. I looked across the room to [Jane] to tell her that I was opening the window and that the water would start coming in but she didn't come to the window nor do I remember her responding at all. But I remember seeing her across the room. The last thing I remember was breathing, kind of quickly paced, noticing the water coming in, SLOWLY, and that soon I would have to brave the moment by not being able to breathe when I would eventually have to swim up. (I don't think I felt much fear, it feels like I felt mostly calm, knowing, knowing what I had to do to survive, and doing it).

Note: Danielle does a nice job of journaling her dream here. She documents some details that may prove to be meaningful for her. To me, it shows that she's taking care of herself, listening to the guide inside.

The Interpretation

You and your friend are one and the same: a person getting to know herself on an intimate level. To me, it makes sense that your house and your truck seemed to blend together as one, because this is the part of you (your moving body/vessel) where your world is presented in. A turtle comes to mind as an animal spirit guide, because the turtle carries her home wherever she goes–inside her shell–and so may you. Remember, on a soul-level, home is not limited to a physical place on the material plane; instead, home may be the Oneness where you and your loved ones exist together. On a soul-level, your home may go where you go.

In this case, your journey leads you to your life's edge, and so it may be valuable to consider the possibility of life after life. However, to me, this "near-death" is actually related to your ego, rather than your lifespan. The cliffside, the collapse, the sinking in water... these are symbols for meeting the end of one aspect of the self, and this threshold likely leads to the emergence of another self, to be born anew. Your awareness of heavy breathing (and probably a quickening heartbeat) is a natural consequences of witnessing death's door, and so beautifully, you manage to find composure and strategize your next steps with calmness and clarity.

In my rational mind, I wonder if you can identify a certain habit or character trait that no longer serves you. If so, then you've seen a possibility for either (1) transmutation: turning a negative trait into a positive trait; or (2) transformation: emerging into the new you. One opportunity may be to return to the dream and surrender more fully to the sinking. Another consideration may be a ceremonial grounding action, such as placing your palms on the earth and saying three times: "I now release all that does not serve."

Now, stepping back into the interpretation, your dream led you to a possible "end" (life is infinite, in my viewpoint), leaving you hanging there at the door. You found yourself sinking underwater with the weight of your belongings. You found yourself facing a certain special part of you that you love, facing the possibility of letting her go, loving her all the while. And even though the "end" is still in limbo, one thing is for sure: there's a lighter, brighter new beginning on the horizon.

The Dream Reader

My name is Cabe Erin Lindsay, M.A., a dream interpreter, currently doing business as Ahstin® (https://ahstin.com). This dream reading service is based in Austin, Texas, currently serving dreamers worldwide. My interest in dream work began with an intensive study of the advertising field–a playground for dreamers, where the creative spirit is valued above all else. I am inspired by the belief that our dreams enable us to see, imagine, and create the world we wish to live in.

Peace,

SO awesome to know we've got a dream interpreter here on steemit. I may need to invoke your services one day!

I feel excited about it. It's a newly-embraced talent, and so your encouragement means so much to me at this early stage. Happy to gift you a dream reading when something interesting pops up, and I'd extend that invitation to @teamhumble too! I've grown to appreciate you both on a heart-level, you know, and I cherish your opinions.

Cool!! Dream reading is a very neat talent!

It's a talent anyone can learn, I imagine. Want to know the secret? You are every character in your dream. Neat, right?

Love it

Oh my, what an awesome Gif. Maybe the best ever. Er, for sure the most mindblowing.

Yeah, totally! That's a great way to think of it

This is such an interesting field. Our subconscious is a wondrous place filled with dreams that reach out and talk to us if we only listen. I like the interpretation of the turtle carrying his home. If you carry your home on your back you will be happy wherever you go since you have all you need with you.

Yes, exactly. It's basically the cowboy way: Wherever he lays his hat is his home. Happy trails to you!

Wonderful post, loved the interpretation! My husband always interprets my dreams and it always is so insightful and rings true for me on every level! Interesting stuff! Upvoted!

Cool, thanks for letting me know! Yeah, it can be a lot of fun journaling our dreams and finding meaning in them. It's kind of similar to the interpretation of an abstract impressionist painting. Know what I mean? I saw this painting by Claude Monet in Paris once, and it continues to mesmerize me:

No, interpreting paintings is a subject I haven't really looked into! But for sure interpreting anything that's underneath the surface is really interesting. :)

I didn't know you were an actual dream interpreter! I've put up a few dream posts an now I cant remember if you commented on them or not but this is really cool! I look forward to seeing more of these!

Thanks so much for your encouragement! I'll post more on this subject. And I'll keep an eye out for the dreams you share too.

Awesome I can't wait, they tend to slip away and get too fuzzy if I don't think about them right away so I really need to make the effort as soon as I wake up which has proven to be a difficult task...

Yep, definitely. That's the best strategy I know for recording dreams: place a notepad right by your bedside and write them down as soon as you wake up.

If you remember that band, Phish, they had a great song about that exact phenomenon you're mentioning.

I can't describe the feeling when I'm in my bed asleep and then I wake up with a vision blurred..."

Dreams are so fascinating. Love understanding all the intricacies. Thanks for sharing!

My pleasure to share. Dreams are fascinating for sure. And it really is an amazing thing to "read" them this way and find the brilliance and beauty hidden in them. Incredible to consider all of this wisdom and self-knowing is available there in the subconscious mind.
