Drawing #24- Galaxy Copic Drawing

in #drawing6 years ago

Hello everyone:
Since I gave away my last space drawing to my coworker, I decided to draw another one for myself. This time I attempted to draw a galaxy with blue since my last space drawing was primarily red.

Materials used:
Copic Sketch Markers - Alcohol-based markers (good for blending)
White gel pen
Prisma color pencils
Paint brushes - White Taklon
Copic Opaque White
Transotype Bleedproof Marker Pad

I do like how it turned out, but I think that the white spirals in the drawing are a bit too neat and too large. So in my next attempt, I will work on making those smaller somehow.

Drawing Process:

Similar to my last space drawing, I began the drawing with copic markers instead of pencil. In the past, I wouldn’t exactly plan out how I would color the picture simply because I was first learning how to color and didn’t know how to plan out pictures. At this point, I’ve decided to try planning my coloring out. I’ve left out some white space that would be the spiral of the galaxy (rather than coloring it white later).

After creating the general shape of the galaxy, I kept adding different colors and worked on blending them as I went.

At this point, I added splotches with the colorless blender. To do this, I dripped some of the blender on a paint brush and lightly tapped the brush on my hand over the picture to add droplets.

I then used color pencils to add a little more color to my pictures. I try to go outside of the normal blues and ventured into using some purple, green, and silver to add a little more color.

Here, I used very small brushes and the Copic Opaque White to add dots. I did use a little bit of white gel pen to add some dots, but I prefer the Copic Opaque White just because it does look white on the paper where as the white gel pen can look a little grey or silver. I definitely think the Copic Opaque White brightens up the picture more than the silver gel pen, which is what I used in the previous space drawing.

I didn’t use more Copic sketch markers to fill in some of the white just because I did add a little of the Copic Opaque White to see if it would brighten the page even more.

That’s all for now, thanks for joining me!

I like that the spokes of this galaxy are just slightly angular. Nicely done.

Thanks! (^-^)/
