Toph Beifong: Avatar - The Last Airbender

in #drawing7 years ago (edited)

"Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished.

Heya! I found an old drawing of Toph from the Avatar that I drew for a friend. Luckily, I save the psd file to provide a step by step. Here it goes!

Step by step

Step 1: Sketch of the body

Step 2: Added details

Step 3: Finalized the lines and curves

Step 4: Started off with the skin and eyes like always :)

I had a little palette beside it which I forgot to remove later on :>

Step 5: Colored the hair

3.png
I didn't use black because if I did, it would blend with the lines which I don't want to happen

Step 6: Colored the clothes

4.png
I always sort the layers by the color of the clothes or the part of the clothes e.g. "green" or "belt"

Step 7: Color of the accessories

5.png
Next was the yellow part. I didn't know what that piece of clothe was called so I labelled the layer as "yellowish" :>

Step 8: Color corrections

6.png
I figured that it was a little light colored so I added contrast using the curves in the adjustment tab

Step 9: Platform and Rocks

7.png

8.png
I put motion blurr filter on the platform and rocks to have a moving effect

Step 10: Gradient sky of course

9.png

Step 11: Created a muddy ground

10.png

Step 12: Added a few mountains

11.png

12.png
I added a few shades of green since just brown looks dull and dead. I few plants wont hurt a mountain, right?

Step 13: Lastly, the clouds
