Hello steemian friends. A little while ago I shared a WIP of a fantasy illustration I'm creating. This is the finished illustration for reference. I'll be sharing my step by step process after that. I work with a wacom tablet and photoshop. And I also post most of my material at www.elventower.com
Here's a gif created from all the tutorial pics.
Step 1. Draw the outline of main features like forests and shorelines.
Step 2. Add isolated trees, sunken ships and water lines.
Step 3. Add destroyed campsite. Notice the broken roofs and the pieces wasting away on the countryside.
Step 4. Create a new layer and add details and small touches to the forest, campsite and sunken boats.
Step 5. Draw all the hills and landmass details. This is time-consuming.
Step 6. Start with color work. All the different color parts are in different layers for easy adjustments later on. First the campsite-
Step 7. Add color to the sunken boats. Don't use the same one for all three.
Step 8. Add color to the beach and isolated trees.
Step 8. Now color the forest. I used the burn tool with a very soft brush to add depth and shadows in between the trees.
Step 9. Color the water mass.
Step 10. Color the hills and add shadows to reflect the light source and elevation.
Here are a promo and the finished illustration for reference. The finished one has a grid for RPG play and a compass. Compass by Deven Rue, a fellow cartographer on Twitter.

I'm a graphic illustrator and I focus my work in tabletop RPG games like dungeons and dragons.
I'm new on Steemit but have great aims to share my work in posts like this one where people can see illustrations be created from the ground up.

Looks fantastic. Wish I had the skills and patience to draw like that.
thanks Xhi, it really does require patience and time. This was probably 10-12 hours of work.
Hello! I find your post valuable for the art community! Thanks for the great post! ARTzone is now following you! ALWAYs follow @artzone and the artzone tag, and support our artists!
I'd say that 10-12 hours of work is still pretty fast.
I did notice in your last post that all the ships had some chunk or hole in them somewhere, and I also saw that there were pieces of something strewn about.
Thanks for sharing the gif and the individual images. As you say, lots of patience and I would add knowledge and skill. I hope this is all paid work, or a product you're selling. :)
