If I sold a cool STEEM branded t-shirt in a webshop, would you rather pay with Dollars or STEEM?

If I sold cool STEEM branded t-shirts in a webshop, and you had the option at check-out to pay with Dollars or STEEM, what would you do?

Case 1, current prices: you can pay with 25$ or 75 STEEM
Case 2, STEEM at 1$: you can pay with 25$ or 25 STEEM

Yeah, yeah, we all dream of prices above 1$, but let's not look too far ahead. Also: for simplicity let's not talk about SBD. If you have too much SBD let's say you convert them to STEEM. Your input is appreciated!

Thanks! :D You're not willing to give up STEEM just yet I see :-)

Rather pay for things directly in Steem. Brings another use for Steem, buying stuff. I want to buy my groceries with Steem. 😂

Anyway, if I had to sell my Steem to get the $25, there's a lot of hassle to it. First I have to convert to BTC or some other currency, then I have to sell that currency, then I have to withdraw from the exchange to my bank. Then I have to record my crypto earnings to the government, which means over a certain amount if my CGT allowance is used up I gotta pay tax on that shit, fucking twats. LOL 😂

Spending Steem directly, no tax, no fuss, no twats. Only good comes of it.

So far I've seen tax free shopping at airports.
Twat free shopping is new to me :D

Brilliant slogan as well:
No Tax, No Hassle, No Twats - come shop at SteemMart

Posted using Partiko Android

Hahaha :D SteemMart - why not. I like it :D

lol

I think at airports it's tax free on inflated prices 💩

Hahahaha - PAY EVERYTHING WITH STEEM! So, if it was possible you would pay everything with STEEM even at these current prices? I've noticed I find it hard to let go of 1 STEEM because I'm still thinking 'this could be worth XX$ in X months time' - I'm interested to see how others look at this.

And yes converting is a hassle, but in Europe I found a great way to quickly get STEEM into your bank account - so I'm hopeful this becomes reality in more and more countries!

I already pay for my witness server with Steem, so I'm used to the price fluctuation, I think I remember the first month only paying 40 Steem, now it is nearly 400 Steem for the same value. I guess you just need to stop comparing it to fiat if you are using it for spending. hehe, but if you are purely using it as an investment, hold. 😉

I found a great way to quickly get STEEM into your bank account - so I'm hopeful this becomes reality in more and more countries

That sounds great. 😃

:D Yes, it's rewiring the brain to 'accept' STEEM as something to spend. We've gotten so used to the 'Power Up' mantra that I personally find it hard to let go - but that will change once prices move up :-)

And yes, I don't know where in the world you live, but if it's in Europe I'll give you a link :-)

The UK, so technically still Europe. #brexit #amirite #lolz 😂

Hahahaha - I was afraid you'd say UK, because the app doesn't work in the UK (yet?). Always the UK - it's never clear if they're Europe or not :')

I need a another option - it really does depend on what Im doing on the day, how I'm feeling, and what's in my balance, who I'm delegating to and so on. I never do anything the same way twice I dont' think!

:D Absolutely! I would also make it possible to have 'both', but was curious to how everyone felt about spending STEEM with these prices... Hehe. Mixed results for sure! <3 Thanks for commenting!

Thanks! :-) I know you're looking forward to eCommerce on Steem - mainly to have more utility for STEEM, the coin, am I correct?

Yes, it starts with the ease of use, check, then network effect, check, then merchant adoption, once we have that check mark we have our selves a nice little currency :)

Thanks! It's great to see people are willing to spend their STEEM, even with current prices :-)

Awesome - you're ready to SPEND!

Steem dollars!

Thanks! So let's say you converted those SBD to STEEM, what would you then choose in the poll? :-)

Sure, let's go for STEEM then

Steem Dollars. Why? Because in HF20, they made it easier for them to be printed to help keep a mad rally like in late November 2017 at bay.

So the liquidity of SBD and/or the stable price is a defining factor here for you? I know SBD was thought of as the stable commerce coin but I notice I don't take SBD that seriously anymore and have a 'convert as fast as possible to STEEM' mentality :-) Not saying I'm right, just sharing how I feel about SBD at the moment.

What I mean is that I'm not as likely to want to HODL SBD as before HF20 because the upside peg has been made stronger. STEEM is much more volatile.

Thanks for clarifying! Makes sense :-)

I can't pay with STEEM at these prices. It would be like giving it away. If we got back over a dollar though it would be nice to start using it for buying things. It's the minnow mentality of how hard it was to earn each STEEM.

I feel the same as you do :-) I'd probably have picked that answer too!

Because where would be the fun in paying in dollars for that ;)

Lol - indeed. Steem stuff should be bought with STEEM ;-)

I have to pay with Steem, I have no dollars :)

I would like that anyhow, I like that it adds to the utility Steem. I'm all in and this sort of thing really helps!

Yes - more utility for STEEM is a good thing. And I don't have dollars either! :D

Yes, the idea is to have both but which option you would choose right now. Thanks for your input, I think I'd have answered the same :-) 75 STEEM feels tough to let go of :-)

agreed! 75 STEEM could be a lot someday :)

Not ready to let go of the STEEM just yet eh! :-) I feel you, the prices are still way too low.

Well... I can't let go of Steem at this price, nor at $1 - I still see potential behind it (not sure for how long tho) but I see things are kind of moving forward.
Still haven't sold any Steem for price < $3 and I think it will keep that way.

Wheen 1 Steem becomes 1 pint of stout or good old pale ale I will consider exchanging Steem :)

Cheers!

Me neither - I almost cashed out for about 3$ when I in the first months of STEEM wanted to celebrate that I had earned on here... But then I had it on the exchange and couldn't let go of it. I just thought 'these prices are too low' :') But yeah - this time around I will cash out a bit when prices go up - 1 Good Old Pale Ale for 1 STEEM sounds like a nice goal!

It's much more difficult and complicated to transfer cash from where I'm located.

Can you pay with creditcard or paypal where you are? :-)
Posted with

  1. PayPal is not available in my country.

  2. Credit card just started getting popular with high transaction and maintenance fees. Also, it's very expensive to get one (over $40). I had one but it just expired as it was only valid for one year though I think the latest ones have a 3yr validity.

Makes sense for you to pay with STEEM then! Thanks for your input, always interesting to see how payments work for others :-)

For privacy reasons.

Ah - interesting! I can see a future where if you pay with STEEM the information is encrypted maybe. But public history of your buys is an interesting thing to think about indeed. That's why I created the poll - thanks!

maybe if steem was 5-8$ i would consider buying with steem. for 75 steem i need to post for 3 months regularly so...

Yes, maybe from STEEM 1$ I would start considering buy some stuff, but 5-8$ sounds more like it :-)

I'm trying to grow my account, so dollars would be better for me. Do you have a 6xl? 😁

Hehe - I can absolutely relate to that reasoning @wonderwop! :D

Do you have a 6xl? 😁

I'm looking into suppliers with as much inclusive sizing and materials and delivery costs and and and... :') But it's hard especially if you want to customize the website and also include crypto and and and... I'm going to make something that works though ;-) Whatever my solution though I'll make sure you get any shirt you'd like in your size :D Cheers!

I will pay in STEEM :D (Or maybe SBD......... SBD still exist , rights? LOL).
Because I think we need the money to circulate so we need to use it otherwise it has no value...
I don't want to speculate as I do with bitcoin ;-) want to use it !
By the way, I made a bunch of t-shirt last year just before getting pregnant... And never started to sell them !!!

Hahaha - yes, SBD still exists too :D Yes, not everyone seems to be 'ready' to spend their STEEM yet, but it definitely would be great for all of us if we had places to spend it :-)

I'm very curious about your t-shirts now :D

And I have a lot more.... Oh my god... 10 months already..... It's a loss for the steem community :D

Nice shirt! :D Haha, yes, 10 months is like forever in Steem Years. So much has happened in that time :D
