While I think D.Live is kinda a scam and not worth my time, that not really the biggest part of this. PewDiePie moving to a decentralized streaming service, no matter the platform, is incredible. This marks a huge movement in the right direction for dApps and also represents an important opportunity for other decentralized and blockchain-based services to capitalize on this. Just think, if Pewds released a video on his channel saying he was doing this, why he was doing this, and to come join him there, that would represent a massive reach that dApps haven’t had yet. Pewds has 80+ million subscribers on YouTube, if only 1% joined D.Live, that would be a massive spike in their user base. Steem, and the dApps that operate on it like D.Tube and Vimm need to capitalize on this and start marketing themselves to disillusioned YouTuber fed up with dealing with Google’s nonsense!
Totally true. It's good marketing. But DLive isn't using the "Blockchain" name prominently in marketing. But it is still some progress. I actually wrote bit of a quick analysis on DLive: https://steemit.com/analysis/@vimukthi/analysis-of-current-state-of-dlive-lack-of-transparency-future-plans-statistics-social-media-presence-token-economy-and-how
Oh yeah, I’m sure DLive is fully planning on cashing in on that marketing. And like I said, I don’t entirely trust DLive after their whole “Steem” escapade. However, if Pewds notices DLive then I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch for him to find Vimm as well, and possibly D.Tube for his video uploads.
Think about this... if Pewds stumbles across @calimeatwagon who dual streams on both DLive and Vimm simultaneously, it might encourage him to try out that platform as well, which would be his entrance to Steem. Then if he publicly announced he’d joined Steem, or one of its dApps, that could really bring an influx of people into the platform.
