It depends on the carpet and if you door has enough space between the carpet, the magnet. If the magnet is placed too high, the plate wont be properly locked.
I don't know but it looks very noisy if it's metal. Better put some plastic on it or some rubber, to lower the noise. It could get pretty annoying hearing the metal clash sound.
Impressive! we are at present using those metals in hip replacement (where theyre from is a secret ;)))) our floors are carpeted so i dont know how they are for wooden/ceramic floors,theyre quiet heavy.
