For the Love of an Eskie

I thought it might be fun to share with the community a few of my favorite pictures of my best friend.
His name is Skimo.

Skimo is a miniature American Eskimo Dog and he has been a part of our family for approximately a year and a half now.

Like most dogs, he likes to play fetch and do tricks.
He is a very protective little creature when it comes to his family.
He barks ferociously at strangers but secretly he's all talk. He's really more of a lover than a fighter.

I don't know how I managed life before this little guy came into it.
Though he does have his quirks like we all do.
He sheds a TON! This dog is by my estimation 75% hair. White hair stands out against most surfaces.
It takes a good daily brushing and a powerful vacuum just to keep conditions around the house livable.
He sneaks milk jugs from the recycle bin and tosses them around the house.
If he hears you open a bag of Doritos he will beg until you give in and give him at least two.
He steals shoes and socks if you haven't given him enough exercise in an attempt to get you to chase him.
He persists in nightly attempts to sit in a chair at the kitchen table when the family sits down for a meal.
We still have a lot of training to do.

It is my hope that with enough training and practice Skimo can become a therapy dog.
I would like to take him to nursing homes and hospitals where he can make new friends and bring joy to people who could use some cheering up.
Until then he is a qualified sidekick.
Warming my feet in the winter and making me laugh when I least expect it and melting my heart with his adorable face.

Dogs are intuitive to the needs of people.
Skimo always knows when I am having a bad day and he always manages to cheer me up.
