Dogecoin will be number 1
Leaving Bitcoin behind
And all them hyped EVM clone chains too.
Wish I still had DOGE
Unfortunately I did sell all my Dogecoin years ago. And just for the fun of it I added Doge to my Coinomi Wallet again. Seeing the values, as it would be at today's market prices, surely made me wonder, how on earth that is possible. The last time I did this was when the price of Doge was even higher. There would have been several times that I could have gotten rid of the house its mortgage. It is a kind of painful to scroll through those transactions, while adding up the numbers. That's not how I could make it becoming a multi billionaire before the end of 2026. My last hope then would be hyper inflation. But then there should be signs, like banks falling over like dominos. Surely they must have learned from the 2008 events? Unless, there's a huge return on investment in crashing the world economy again.
Anyway that is why I still do HODL on to a diverse portfolio of Cryptocurrencies. Which brings me back to Dogecoin, of that I have none left. (Yes, I do look at an arse in the mirror some days.) But, due to a kind question of Chris Rice, founder of D dot Buzz (a micro blogging Dapp build on Hive), I want to dive into Dogecoin for a bit more. As there still seems to be the idea that it has no serious value to it. Sure it is fun, lots of memes and lolz there. It cannot be taken seriously, or should not even, perhaps? Well, there are some who believe Bitcoin [BTC] is the only one. And I cannot take them seriously. But DOGE means business and I am convinced that Twitter is going to prove that on a next level.
Yeah, but coding wise...!
There is this old stubborn tale about Dogecoin not being developed anymore, nor that it has been since it came out. That is complete and utter nonsense. It could not have gotten this far if development had stuck. If not for safety reasons that it would have gotten updated on a regular base then surely to keep up with innovation. Its sourcecode is up to par with that of the root of it all: Bitcoin. And it has all been put together into a foundation.
While there are some serious developments going on over at Dogecoin's, there have been some key changes to its sourcecode. Now I do not want to go through all the changes. As that would mean I'd have to go through the changed sourcecode. But one thing I know without even looking, maybe only for confirmation reasons, Dogecoin is using UINT256 [Unsigned Integer of 256 bit] for its COINs. Meaning the restriction of INT64 is gone. All UTXO [Unspend Trans Xction Output] Cryptocurrencies that are up to par with the Bitcoin sourcecode probably have gotten this upscaling. In practice meaning that Dogecoin can go way beyond 92 billion DOGE, using 8 decimals. If you want to know how much: 2 to the power of 256 minus 1, using 8 decimals. (It's huge indeed.)
Transactions cost 0.01 DOGE
Something you might not expect to change maybe, but a Dogecoin transaction has become much cheaper. Well, at least the lowest possible cost. While trying to prevent to have the blockchain choked by 0.02 DOGE transactions, as that might be a risk. But a typical transaction could cost about one hundredth of a Euro Cent. Now try and get that with Bitcoin, or Ethereum and so on. Only one to beat Dogecoin in this is Hive. But hey, you need to have something at stake for that to function. Well, one might have even have enough 'free' RC [Resource Credits] on Hive to pay for a cup of Java, settling the bill using HBD [Hive Backed Dollar].
But, once a Dogecoin wallet is set up, no need for some complex copy pasting of keys. Which I consider a downside for mass adoption of the way the Hive blockchain functions. It really is a burden when I try to onboard others. That is different with UTXO Coins like DOGE. Just scan the QR code and pay, if it pops up in the blockchain waiting list that often is enough to be considered a done deal. And that is what the Dogecoin team are focussed on right now: utility. Part of that is by working on the LibDogeCoin, a C programming language library, that can be added in any programming language that supports C libs. Meaning more software can interact easily with the Dogecoin blockchain.
Sure, smile, but it works
Another development aimed at utility is Gigawallet, which of there is a lot to read about at Dogecoin dot com and Dogecoin dot org. The main goal in all of the developement seems to be that DOGE has to be useable. And for this there's also going to be Open Sourced markerplace software available. Gigawallet is going to make it happen, easy to implement into existing businesses. Like a plug and go system. No headache, add it in and get them DOGE in for payment. While you might be able to pay easily and in a jiffy for a cup of coffee. Hardly noticing the transaction costs. (Yes, I know, there is a point of sales system like that for Hive and it is quite unknown. Subject for a future article.)
You know, once upon a time, somewhere in the world, grains of rice were accepted as a payment. Then the fractional reserve banking scam became a thing, as it still is. Using almost worhless pieces of paper and coins of nickle people use it as if it actually does hold real value. While technically it is worthless, because there is nothing backing it. There's not even a fraction reserved in practice... Still, you and I mutually believe it has some value and so we use it as such, as it is much easier than using salt crystals or grains of rice. Then why not use DOGE in the computed realm? All we need is the agreed common believe that it does have value and we can exchange things based on that.
All you have to do is believe in Doge
One thing that Dogecoin has and none of the others can possibly beat is its fun element. It became famous through its memes and the usage of things like 'much Wow'. Even the most ugly font ever made became top notch because of Dogecoin. No Graphical Designer has to feel ashamed anymore when using it. "Hey cool, I like the Dogecoin font you used, hahaha, many cool!" This is a marketing dream come true, one cannot beat that. (Forget the EVM [Ethereum Virtual Machine] cloned rip offs, they are expensive and pretty useless...) It is hard not to like the Shiba Inu, come on. And you can pay with it also...!?
Maybe it started off as a joke. Just for fun, but with everything in working order. A proof of concept of how easy it was to fork open source code and create a meme coin. But many came and a lot where just there to pump and dump after a huge pre- or Ninja-mine. One clear sign of that would be proof of development, or the clear sign that there was not any of that. Dogecoin has had active development ever since it came into existence. And there is a trailmap ahead. If Schnorr signatures are one of them, I do not know. But if it proves to work for others I bet it will get implemented in the Dogecoin software.
Unfortunately I have given away and sold every last of my DOGE stack a long time ago. That might have been one of my dumbest choices in life, I am fully aware of that. And even though one cannot do NFT [Non Fungible Token] stuff on the Dogecoin blockchain or create Coloured Coins on it (yet), I do think it will surprise a lot of Cryptocurrency fans soon. And I will end this publication with a pretty bold statement that Dogecoin is going to be the number 1 on the Cryptocurrency Market. Pushing Bitcoin to number 2. But, be aware, only invest what you are willing and can effort to lose.
Have a great one!

I lost over a million DOGE to the Cryptsy exchange when Paul Vernon ran away with the cryptocurrency. It was worth only a fraction of a cent back then.
That really sucks... If I only had held onto mine ...
On the other hand...
Eurm, cannot think of something that makes it seem like okay.
Wonder what the near future will bring us.
