That is what I use.
No blockchain membership needed.
And widely supported.
Now during all that Bitcoin forking clones hype lately it is almost forgotten that there is a wide choice in other Cryptos. Yes, I still use Bitcoin, the real Core one, or BTC, for long-term value storage. And any forking clone that gives me free cloned cryptos, I will sell and probably buy more BTC . The market and usage will decide what is the best long-term investment. And my bet is on Bitcoin Core {BTC}. Yet, I use Cryptos not only for long-term savings. Most Cryptos I HODL for long-term, next to BTC {Bitcoin}, are: ZEC {Zcash}, DASH {Dashcoin}, LTC {Litecoin} and recently added VTC {Vertcoin}. Besides that I do have some small term Cryptos to play with, like Bitshares and Waves. Mostly for experimental usage. And I still have some Steem vested and for future usage EOS. None of them fit day-to-day usage for me though like the fun one, DOGE {Dogecoin} does. Much WOW!
It is the cheapest, none blockchain registered membership needing, Crypto that has all the needed support. For me it is close to the digital representation of cold-hard-cash in my leather wallet. And as banks are slowly moving to their kind of digital money only, making cold-hard-cash obsolete in the proces, DOGE can make the day of many. With Near Field Connections {NFC} support on Smart phones it could become as easy as using traditional cash. Also besides the support for Desktop wallets, Dogecoin has a lot of Apps and support in multi-wallets like JAXX and my favorite one Coinomi. That last one for me a reason to stay on Android supporting hardware. That fruity one is very bad in supporting cryptos. Not that it suprises me though. But luckily the cheapest easiest smart phones are Android based. Even if you have that forbidden fruity brand smart thing, then a thin small smart Android oiece of hardware is still a sound investment. Just put it to good multi-crypto wallet use.
Fast and cheap.
With the most support on all kinds of platforms. Available on direct exchange services like Shapeshift, Changelly and Blocktrades. Some even build into multi-wallets like CoinOmi, makes the day-to-day usage of Dogecoin a bliss. If I need to pay some hosting for a project in Bitcoin, I just use some DOGE to convert in Wallet to BTC. Just as easy as I move DOGE from one account wallet to another. It is just as easy to move 1 DOGE at the same cost of 1 DOGE, as it is to move 50.000 of it. Much cheap WOOF! It makes me laugh at the claim of one of those Bitcoin forking clones, the China version {BCH}, that they have low costing transactions. Yes, lower than BTC, but they have a dropping value too. It is not even one tenth of the value of the real Bitcoin. To me that is a laugh. Takes ten minutes at least and is much more expensive to use than DOGE. Yes, Bitcoin {BTC} even more expensive than gold, good for long-term holding. But for dialy usage: Dogecoin!
As you may know by now I am not a Bitcoin purist. If innovation gives SegWit with Sidechains that are actually used and supported, proving it in the market price, than that is it. And I do get it how Sidechains are releaving the Mainchain from data and could make microtransactions possible on a certain Sidechain, without creating gigantic Mainchain blocks. Therefore Segwit and Sidechains are the winner, or Bitcoin Core {BTC}. The market and the people who use Cryptos will deal accordingly to the forking clones. After november, december 2017 that will become absolutely clear. With january 2018 giving another ceiling to be reached for BTC, when it is going for 10K. And while the whole forking clone charade goes on I will be using DOGE for day to day settlements. It is great to hand-out, to use for tipping and payments at extremely low transaction costs. Could it get cheaper? Yes, with Slothcoin for instance, the cutest crypto on the block. But there is not much support for that one, yet.
Blockchain or not?
Blockchains have a downside, they have to move on, grow over time. The more transactions, the bigger the blocks, the faster it fills up. Even to a point where the internet could not update big block movement anymore. Or where computer memory can not hash 64 MB blocks in time. And the lag to keep the peer to peer network updated becomes a burdon. Bigger blocks are not a solution, it will create its own challenges. Those who want to use it, be free to do so. Do sidechains solve the challenge of the endless growth of a blockchain? No, but it does releave the mainchain, by moving data to sidechains, each with its own purpose. This makes more logical sense to me, that is why I do support this in SegWit cryptos like Bitcoin, Litecoin and Vertcoin. But it might be that we need to look at a different way use Cryptos. One interesting developement in that direction is IOTA, yet still needs to prove itself on the long run.
In the meantime I will HODL my long-term portfolio of blockchain based cryptos. And I will be gladly using Dogecoin for day-to-day use as a digital kind of cold-hard-cash. Now if I only could buy me a cup of coffee with DOGE too.
By the way, remember to only invest in cryptos what you are willing and able to lose. And your speculation might be as bad or as good as mine.
Have a great one!
*Dogecoin, much fast, much cheap, much WOOF!

Although I like Dodge, i'm always thinking on missing out on other coins... so I still don't own any of them...
Doge I use like cash. Not long term holding. Although it got more expensive lately. For many short/mid term things I find it very usefull.
I use doge to move money from exchange to exchange. The fee is usually 2 doge, which is about 40 satoshis. Can't get cheaper than that!
When the doge tipbot was on reddit, it used to be the preferred coin for tipping because no-one minded giving people 10 doge here and there just to say, great post.
I just wish more payment processors would enable it (like bitpay) - I don't understand why they are sticking with bitcoin only when it is clearly an asset like gold not cash like doge.
Exactly, Doge is far more suited for tips and payments than Bitcoin. And maybe at some point Doge will be used like Bitpay now uses Bitcoin.
Even converting it first to BTC is a waste. Bitcoin is indeed a high value holding asset, unsuited for things where Doge fits the bill perfectly.
Are not you tired of waiting? I have 850,000 pieces waiting. for 1 dollar ...
:)))
Pieces of what? You mean Sloth? :-)
it does not matter, i think! what a difference? Sloth or Piece ... the result is not $ 1 ...
hahahha
Well, I do not wait, I move on.
I feel sorry for you. On the other hand, there was little time left ...
Sorry, for me? No need, all is well, still have millions of Slothcoin, hahaha.
you sent me a little... PLS. Ahahaha
thats what i like about doge.....
And it is very nice being at a price of 0.001 Euro, I like it like that. :-)
Like a real Dutchman should ... hahaha
Hahaha, ons ben zuuneg!
Thanks for the fun blog. Doge was 1 of my first holdings when I started trading.
I like the fact it didn't fluctuate wildly and I could sell millions without dropping the market price. Other coins didn't have that kind of volume and if I wanted out i killed the price when doing so.
Cheers
It is my pleasure!
Yes, Doge does have many advantages. Using it in a more practical way got me in.
And indeed, selling millions of Doge will still keep the price relatively stable.
Now I do not hope people will go start buying Dogecoin by the billions. That could make it too expensive to use. But good to HODL.
Still think Doge is going to be quite stable, cheap and fast. Great for day-to-day usage.
thanks for searing.
A beautiful post with information that can be used and this is what I look for in our steemit community
