The Dogecoin Foundation

They attempted to get a trademark on "Dogecoin". Some people believe this has evil intent and they want to "take over". While I suppose that could be an outcome, I (perhaps unfortunately) tend to be optimistic about things like this and I believe they were acting in good faith trying to do so.
The best outcome imo was that by them attempting and thus proving to the copyright office the "ownership" of that is contested, that the term is deemed ambiguous enough that no single person can lay claim to it as some other definitely bad actors attempted to do.
I think the foundation should exist, similar to how the bitcoin foundation exists, but it's tricky waters because there needs to be a clear line between what dogecoin the decentralized currency is, and what the foundation is attempting to do and that's prevent bad actors from "taking over" and help drive and fund some community efforts to build things on dogecoin.
All that being said, I've got little to nothing to do with the dogecoin foundation, only what I've been told and the little I've been made aware of over the last couple of years. It's mostly organizing some outsourcing of projects from what I understand (and disambiguating from core to some degree)in case patrick does attempt to forceful-takeover, there will still be dogecoin.
