The Next Dogecoin

I have many problems with the idea of being "the next dogecoin", because dogecoin itself isn't some one off shittoken, it has so much more history to it. it started as a parody of bitcoin, found adoption across the internet as just a joke currency that people would use to tip eachother, less valuable still than a "like" on any platform. eventually gained traction as an actual currency, still a joke. then eventually that changed. it's an accident that dogecoin is so valuable. for something to be "the next dogecoin" would be pretty much impossible in today's climate. there are no tokens that are funny anymore, none that people are happy to take. people aren't excited to learn about crypto, download a wallet, host a node, mine just to learn how it works. crypto's attention is dominated entirely by three camps: the largest camp ridicules it. the second largest camp is people who "invest" and trade currencies as a way to gamble or ponzi. the third camp is those who just make tokens and sell them to people with the promise that it's worth something, flooding the internet with token after token after token, all of them serving absolutely no purpose but a number that people pretend is worth something.
One of the things that made dogecoin special was that it was funny, and it was an exciting way to learn about this new cryptocurrency thing. you could make a wallet, you could mine some, you could find out how it worked. nobody was serious about it, it was warm and inviting. I still hope it's warm and inviting, but the reality is everyone's heard of crypto, and the fact that there are a trillion bad apples in the bunch makes it not worth looking at to the vast majority of people even if they would have been interested at the time.
