One issue we hear most often is people trying to just determine their transmission model.
This article we're covering only the basic's to identification transmission types.

Jeep Grand Cherokee's 1996 to 2004 With 4.0L Engines
Dodge Dakota 3.9L 1996-2003 With Engines
Dodge Durango 1998-2002 With 5.2L Engines
These all have 14 pan bolts.
Normally described as a square pan with rounded corners but one corner has a sharper angle to it.

The "RFE's " have 15 pan bolts <<
Main differences between these are very slight and your owners manual may be more specific.
The mopar factory uses RTV Silicon, in our opinion we prefer a gasket which is also the consensus of most professional tech's.

These all have 19 pan bolts, and are most often described as 4 bolts on the front of the pan, 3 bolts on the rear.
The top of the case will very commonly have a sticker of varied color's with the word " AISIN "

Sprinter & Some Mopar Cargo Vans Contain NAG Transmissions, Normally Called 722.6
no pan gasket image available, these are typically easy to always id
