They are becoming more accepted but they are just an economic fact at this point I believe. They are essentially acting as the advertising tool of the network. Rather than pay for a Facebook ad to be include in a subcategory now you pay a bot to upvote you to be seen.
Then again I'm a huge bot supporter so my opinion is certainly swayed. I just think they provide too much good to the network as opposed to any actual negatives.
