They are going to need it. They do have major scaling issues.
This is going to be a major hurdle for them. Or should I say continues to be. The sharding did not quite work out as expected so it is onto another move. POS would certainly fix the problem to a large degree. Will the ETH do it? I am sure they will if it means keeping pace with what else is out there.
