The New York Mets have payroll constraints. This is something that General Manager Brodie Van Wagenen is going to have to navigate through.
Yoenis Cespedes was the big splash free agent 3 winters ago. He was coming off a find 2016 after a great 2015 with the Mets. He signed a 4 year deal for $110 million.
Since that time injuries took their toll. His contract calls for $29 million going to him in 2020. This is money the Mets need to get a return on.
Cespedes, according the the GM, has been taking BP and running for a few weeks now. He is trying to get back on the field after missing all of 2019.
