Dani Alves has criticised long-time team-mate Lionel Messi after the Argentina star alleged that the Copa America was corrupt in the wake of his side's loss to Brazil.
More and more load on the shoulders of Messi as he continues to struggle at a national level. Recall that Messi retired once from the Argentine national and now with their recent poor escapades at the COPA America coupled with a subsequent Daniel Alves rant calling Messi 'disrespectful', the load may be getting too much.
We all know how media love to fuel these things and take these rants out of context. These moments will certainly test Messi's character and perhaps his desire too, when it comes to winning with the nationality team.
Age is a factor too as Messi is in his thirties and the base of the Argentine national team composed of veterans is breaking as the years go by.
Would you still say that Messi has to prove something by winning at a national level or do you think that the time is right for him to retire from the national team?
