In contrast to last time, commander Virat Kohli will have nothing to do with the determination of the Indian group's new head mentor, a senior BCCI authority disclosed to The Indian Express.

A ultimate conclusion will be taken by a controlling council, headed by previous India captain Kapil Dev, and affirmed by the Supreme Court-named Committee of Administrators (CoA), the authority said.

"Last time, the commander (Kohli) had communicated his trouble, or the group's trouble, with previous mentor Anil Kumble. In the new choice procedure, he will have positively no state concerning who turns into the mentor. This time, we have Kapil Dev in the mentor choice advisory group, and he won't hear him out (Kohli)," the official, who did not wish to be named, said.

In another takeoff from the procedure pursued last time, the BCCI has chosen that the senior determination council will pick the care staff to help the mentor.

"Care staff will be picked by the determination council. Typically, we permit the head mentor to do that (pick the care staff) for group building. This time, if the head mentor is chosen (before the determination of the care staff), he may join the procedure," the authority said.

Kumble had stopped as head mentor following the 2017 Champions Trophy after Kohli communicated reservations over his "style" of working. Ravi Shastri was then picked as the new mentor, and contracted till the 2019 World Cup, where India lost to New Zealand in the elimination rounds. The CoA has given the training staff a 45-day expansion for the West Indies visit that begins on August 3.

It is found out that the BCCI means to choose the new mentor before the home arrangement against South Africa beginning September 15. Shastri and the other training staff — associate mentor Sanjay Bangar, bowling mentor Bharat Arun and handling mentor R Sridhar — will naturally enter the new staff choice procedure, yet will at present need to re-apply.
