An advice to mothers: You may want to clean your baby's dummy (pacifier) by sucking it first (as a way of cleaning) to boost your baby's immunity. The study shows how this practice help reduce the incidence of allergies and susceptibility to infections in children. This way the mother passes healthy bacteria to their babies and also trigger a faster/earlier development of the immune system.

This study reminds me of the germaphobic mother in Everything Everything.

Happy reading!

sounds like a good way to pass un-healthy bacteria as well

This would only be unhealthy if the mother has an infection. Normal flora in the mouth ordinarily won't cause an infection to the child.

Thanks for airing your views. Well appreciated.

That is an interesting approach.  Couldnt one just steralize it first?

That's a smart move if you're considering not getting an infection from the dummy. Yes you may!

I do not understand the study very well. I just know that I have had a child and that I have not cleaned the pacifier like that in my life "Hulio" and I think it is not necessary, how do vaccines work?

Vaccines work in a similar way, by triggering the formation of antibodies to boost immunity. The study doesn't say if you don't do this your child won't have a healthy immune system either. The practice gives an edge, and we don't have vaccines for all the antibodies we developed. Most of the immunity we acquire comes from our environment.

A post by @nonzerosum examines people's perception of vaccines. Many also think vaccines are not necessary.

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate.
