A lost art, indeed. Folks need to realize that being kind, professional, and honest goes much further than simply showing up. The problem with the trades is that there is a shortage of real talent and motivation, so anyone with potential immediately moves up the ranks to become a foreman/manager or start his/her own company.

This leaves the customer to deal with the apprentice who is generally much less motivated. When you find a good tradesmen (or anyone for that matter), treat him well and he will treat you well! Golden rule never fails! It's all about creating win-win situations.
