My top 5 favorite animated Disney movies

in #disney7 years ago

I love animated movies, and obviously, Disney movies are pretty much at the top of my list. I'm currently 31 years old but I have no shame in binge-watching Disney movies on a lazy weekend. When a new Disney movie comes out, you best believe that I'm going to the theaters to see it, more than likely going home, memorizing the entire soundtrack and playing it in my car a 1,000 times. I wanted to make this list of my top 5 favorite Disney movies but then once I started actually thinking about which 5 I wanted to choose I ran into quite a dilemma. I didn't realize how hard this list would be to make, simply because there's literally too many Disney movies that I absolutely love. I tried to wean this list down to my all-time favorites but it's really hard to choose just five! So, without further ado...

5. Lion King 2 Simba's Pride

Now I know that most people think that when it comes to Disney movies the sequels are always garbage. For certain movies I can agree (I'm talking to you Cinderelle 2, get outta here with your crappy story line.) But not in the case of the Lion King. If I'm being completely honest with everyone, I'd have to say I like The Lion King 2 more than the Lion King. The storyline is awesome, it's a nice follow-up to the original, plus it has a bitchin soundtrack, dare I say, better than the original.

4. Brother Bear

Brother Bear is a story that I feel was extremely underrated. When this hit the theaters there wasn't tons of excitement around it and shortly after it went to video. There's not a ton of Brother Bear merchandise because people just seemed to forget about it. Personally I think this movie is amazing. The animation style is beautiful and the story is really awesome. Now I'm all for the traditional Disney princess falls in love with a prince and they get married and live happily ever after but it's a nice breath of fresh air when you get a different story line that's telling the importance between the bond of brothers. I'm not ashamed to admit that during more than one portion of this movie I will burst into tears because I feel like the message is so moving.

3. Moana

Moana is a fairly new movie but after seeing in theaters for the 4th time, it quickly rose to my top 5. The animation on this movie is mesmerizing, the scenery is beautiful, the storyline is compelling and inspirational and it has amazing and catchy songs (not to mention The Rock plays the voice of Maui and my love for The Rock runs deep.❤)

2. Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast is a classic and one of my all-time favorites. Belle has always been one of my favorite Disney Princesses because I thought that I looked most liked her when I was little. I think the movie tells a really important lesson about not judging people by their oitside appearence. I felt like I could always relate to Belle as a young child because I always felt like an outcast, I was never interested in typical things and many found me to be odd. Nowadays that's one of my favorite features about myself, and I feel like Belle helped to give me the confidence to truly be myself.

1. The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid is probably my favorite Disney movie of all time. It was the first Disney movie that I really got into as a child and I loved it so much that I insisted on watching it every single day at noon (sharp) and would sometimes watch it more than once a day. I watched my copy of The Little Mermaid so many times that I actually wore out the VHS two times and my parents had to replace it for me. Some days I would get in trouble and be grounded from the TV and wasn't allowed to watch The Little Mermaid at my scheduled appointed time of 12 noon, and those cases I would sit in my bedroom and recite the movie verbatim while acting it out with my stuffed animals. I could probably still recite most of the movie to this day.

So I would love to know, what are your favorite Disney movies? Thanks, and I hope you have a magical day☄
