I want to ask a couple questions, as well as give a couple of thoughts and such.
Are you on Facebook? What are your reasons?
If you are on Facebook, do you have any Steemit friends there?
I'm on Facebook. 😱😱😱
In some Steemit circles, this would be considered sacrilege. Not to say I haven't struggled with my choices, but the bottom line is - I get something out of being active there. If you don't use Facebook, just know I understand and respect that. I don't think any less of you, and I ask that you don't think any less of me for being there.
Ok, that part is out of the way.
Facebook has its problems, such as:
Censorship - with Alex Jones, Liberty Memes, individual people, ect.
Shady algorithms - why not just let people see the newest posts first?
Questionable privacy practices - like targeted ads and information gathering.
Facebook has its appeals, such as:
Connection with family and friends - sharing life with long distance relatives.
Groups for likeminded people - every subject under the sun.
Being notified of memories and anniversaries, for example, a video from two years ago when my baby learned to walk.
Some posts are annoying
"Type amen and share, and you will be blessed with abundant riches!"
"I bet this poor dog won't even get one like."
"This was our supper! Look! Hamburgers!"
Drama Llamas!!!
Some posts are not
You get to see a video of your cousin introducing a new puppy to her kids for Christmas from 1000 miles away.
Interesting and random facts
Positive and inspirational quotes and news, like a video of a deaf baby getting implants, and hearing for the first time.
Funny memes!
There are many reasons to embrace or avoid this alternate social media site. I was thinking about the reasons I'm there, and I will share three main ones with you.
1.) For anyone who follows me, you would know our family has been through a lot over the past three years. Hardships like divorce, homelessness, spouse's battle with substance abuse and the law, CPS. Ok, I have 5 young kids. Things are better now, but these were big issues. I know how people are. I know how people network. I know family members and strangers alike "worry" if they don't know what's going on with us for an extended period of time. So I post. Public posts. Anyone can see. Nosey neighbors, Law enforcement, friends of friends of friends of friends. I show the world that we're okay pretty much every single day. It's a measure that prevents unnecessary speculation, rumors, and concern. This is the most important reason.
2.) Entertaining memes, jokes, and Gifs. I love the humor! Memes are sparse in Steemland. Quality comes into question when someone wants to share a funny meme, whether it be original or not. Memes bring an excessive amount of joy to my life, an Facebook is a great place to find and share them.
3.) It's another way of expressing myself. I've never been censored there, and I have a lot to say. There's not as much expected of me there, so I say things I'm more hesitant to say here. Sometimes long, sometimes short. I can say, "I beg to differ" and "Well, that was unnecessary." In context, nothing more needed to be said, and people understood exactly what I meant. I'll comment a sarcastic remark on an obviously slanted article from "mainstream news," and other people will get on the same side. I'll give and receive honest and helpful advice to people in the groups I belong to. I'll tell people what I think about this or that. I don't know, it's a suitable outlet for that type of expression.
In closing, I have made the decision to share my FB page here. If you have FB too, I'd be happy to be your friend, so we can share our lives and see different aspects of each other. Yes, it's not private for me to share this with you, but what is privacy these days? My privacy has already been invaded in huge ways (probably yours too), so maybe I'm just immune to it now. I'm not even worried about it. Here is my page.
Hope to see you around! Wherever we may be.
Love, snowpea ❤

I'm on FB because I keep my public page there and post misc day to day stuff which I don't post on Steemit or Wordpress. What started off as keeping friends up to date with my new life has accumulated over 400 followers most of which I don't know. And you know what, that actually gives me so much satisfaction than having more followers here as those 400+ people follow me because they want to, and not because they expect me to follow them back.
For my personal page, like you that's a great way to keep in touch with friends and family around the world, and to reconnect with long lost friend occassionally.
The only thing I don't like about FB is how they show post on my feed now. No matter how I set the setting, tt's mainly posts from groups or pages I follow which is a tad annoying.
Yes, I'm on Facebook, a few friends are there, and on Steemit too, and I'm on Facebook to reach people, family, friends, in America, but also students as I taught English in Vietnam for 5 years until 2017, and I upload photos to Facebook in order to keep a backup of my photos each week as it is easier to upload hundreds of videos. On Steemit, you have to upload one photo at a time, last time I checked. The Busy app of Steem has allowed mass upload of photos but I am not sure where Busy saves the photos, whether it be Steem or something like what Dtube does which could be a problem.
Long story short, I try to be everywhere to reach people, to have backups, to red pill people, etc, and My Christmas 2018 Article was downvoted because I said there are two genders and I believe in family first values. Many of my posts have been flagged this week because of things like that. Here's an upvote. Thanks. Oatmeal.
Definitely N A Y !
