I'm at Discon day two and wanted to share some pictures of my talk yesterday which went really well. I got some great feedback afterwards which is always encouraging as a speaker. I'm not sure if it was recorded (or if it was, if it might be put online), but I will probably put it together as a presentation at some point so you can benefit from it also.
I'm really happy to finally meet Brooke, the "bitcoinmom" who I've been tweeting with for years. These next two photos were taken by her.
There are two venues for Discon and the main one was located in a pretty cool theater.
I have a lot of content to post about our family drive from Nashville to Boulder, CO where we visited the St. Louis Arch, the Money Museum, the WW1 Museum, a prairie museum, and more.
I've been a little too busy to post while in transit, but I will be putting things up when I get back. In the meantime, you can follow me on twitter here.

Very cool! Thanks Elim.
I see you made the decision to move to Puerto Rico! Congrats! I lived there for 20 years and if you stay around the northern region let me know if you have any questions on communities and schools. I would be happy to help! If you ever have a meet-up there I would definitely take the trip!
@lukestokes, Congratulations because good to see you as an Speaker and whenever our words get value then for sure that gives sense of achievement because it's just not about the moment to reach hear, we've travelled a lot in life to gain value for our words.
And for sure, i can understand from all these environment that you've spread the great vibes towards the Steemit Platform and in my opinion your efforts are really appreciable because if your words can influence more people and if we see more potential people on Steemit then inturn that is important for the Steem Economy.
Good to see your picture and details in the Background, and the whole environment reminded me the Consensus Meeting. And wish that you will going to speak on more platforms.
And that ID is really cool for sure. And that tree art is really unique and it hold some messages, and that message is now we are entering into the world of Decentralisation and now we can create an opportunity where everyone will going to get the chance to growth.
Wishing you an great day and stay blessed. 🙂

This is absolutely beautiful @lukestokes. Your contributions to the growth of Steemit and many other cryptocurrency projects is the major reason you are being invited to deliver talks here and there. Congratulations!

Nice! I have been waiting, since you mentioned Discon a few days ago. Glad to know that even if we don't get an online version, hopefully the presentation you put together will be able to get the word to us.
The talk abstract you posted last week gave a general outline and I think plenty of us here can use the help in understanding the world of Blockchain governance and DACs (I have done some homework over DPOS in the last few months but I have lot of ground to cover on DACs and even SMT's).
There have been a few disturbing things that I have read about Bitcoin in the last few months. Somebody showed me a part of Dan Larmer's article where he mentioned that Bitcoin has some sort of an 'old boy' network within the community that have some sort of informal governance. As you can see, this was more than a little disconcerting to my newbie understanding of blockchains capability of creating decentralized communities and economy. This was more than a month ago.....
Sorry, the comment got off the topic their. In any case, if you put up any material or presentation, then I'll be sure to check it out.
PS: Glad to know that you and your family are enjoying the trip :-)
Awesome,
It looks like a really fancy event.
Kudos sire
Admirable work. Your conferences seem to be very enriching, it's great that you are able to share your knowledge
Come out to Colorado Springs when you get a chance (:
hey, just wanted to let you know your witness seems down
left a msg on your twitter as well, hope it reaches you
Thanks very much for that. I’m traveling at the moment and my server tripped over to my backup on aug 2nd. For some reason at around 1am last night the latest version got stuck on a block for some unknown reason. I’m going to digg through the logs when I get back home. For some reason conductor wasn’t running to switch it back to my other server though it did on the second. On top of that, the server still had an old notification file in place from July which prevented me from getting a text message last night. :(
I’m going to update my script when I get back to keep texting me, even if a notification was already set.
Thanks again for the twitter message. I saw it first thing when I woke up. I’m confused why conductor disabled my witness and shutdown. I’m going to try some alternative tools. This is the second time conductor has done something a little strange.
Looks like you were doing a great job at the conference. Was it very well attended? Sounds like you had lots of adventures!
