Erlenzeisig ■ Eurasian siskin

Der Erlenzeisig ist ein Vogel aus der Familie der Finken (Fringillidae). Während der Brutzeit bekommt man den kleinen Vogel kaum zu Gesicht. Er hält sich dann vorwiegend in den Baumkronen der Wälder auf. Dort baut er auch sein Nest. Erst in den Wintermonaten zieht es den Erlenzeisig in die Wohngebiete auf der Suche nach Nahrung.
The Eurasian siskin is a bird from the family of the finches (Fringillidae). During the breeding season you hardly get to see the little bird. He then stays mainly in the treetops of the forests. There it also builds its nest. Only in the winter months is the siskin drawn to the residential areas in search of food.

Die Paarungszeit beginnt im April und die Brutzeit endet im Juli. Die Jungvögel ernähren sich von kleinen Insekten. Ältere Vögel fressen Samen von Bäumen. Gerne sucht der Vogel Wasserstellen auf, um darin zu baden. Der Erlenzeisig ist gesellig und in den kalten Wintermonaten, oft in Schwärmen mit anderen Finken unterwegs, auf der Suche nach Nahrung.
The mating season begins in April and the breeding season ends in July. The young birds feed on small insects. Older birds eat seeds from trees. The bird likes to go to water holes to bathe. The siskin is sociable and in the cold winter months, often in flocks with other finches, in search of food.
