Soft Kitty! Warm Kitty! Little ball of fuuur!
Hello Fellow Steemians, and welcome to my entry for the Design a Character Contest Week #4. As always, I want to thank @w0olf for hosting this contest, and a special thanks to this weeks guest judge @fraenk and his cuddle-bot, namely @steemkitten.
The Entry:
The aim of this week was to come up with a nice visual identity for @steemkitten. So I am honored to present to you my entries for this week. Hold onto your whiskers, because this little guy with his googly eyes (see what I did there) will just melt your face off with cuteness!
The Process:
All and all this took me quite a few hours, with a lot of experimentation, so I will show some, but not all of the process that I followed in creating this cute little kitten.
A horrifying start... as always!
There was clearly still a lot wrong here. Giraffe like neck, weird ass feet... so many things.
Fixing the weird little legs...
This just shows my struggle in trying to come up with legs that look okay... I think the kitten had more of a hover at some point, kind of ghost-like.
Gosh... how do I make this look like the first image...
The struggle is real! Took me ages to come up with something fairly decent that actually looked like first kitten.
A little side experiment
Before I did the playful pose I tried my hand at a side view... I don't know what I drew, but it was not... a... kitten...
The Tools:
For those who are curious, this image was drawn on a Wacom Intuos Pro Paper in good ol Adobe Photoshop, forged from the blood of my enemies and the purring of kittens.
Thank you for reading!
Comments, questions and critiques are always welcome.

Have a wonderful day.

Haha nice entry @skippyza! :D
Was fun to see your progress in your workflow! The giraffe like neck 😂
Thanks for your entry!
Thank you. The long neck is to see out of the void that posts disappear into. 😝
My thoughts exactly. To reach food easier :)
#GooglyEyes FTW! heh :P
let me just grab a napkin... there's some melted face on my desk.
I appreciate you bold choice of color! The coloring in the hero images make her look suuuper velvet-y (?! words... pffft).
The "getting ready for a cuddle attack" pose in the second main image is great, I can feel her anticipation!
I can see how it got a bit tricky neck down working on the poses, that suddenly flips when you get to the side view, very elegant posture, but what happened with her cheeks there?!
Thanks for an awesome entry!
It's only a pleasure, I get to hone my skills and support a great contest!
FYI: It's fairly easy to change the colour if you have a preference.
Boom! Orange kitten!
And who knows what went wrong... I drew something between a fox, lion and.. dachshund?! Those cheeks ruined my life for a good hour or two.
😂
Adorable! Blood from your enemies huh? I knew I was missing something in my supplies! I shall get some, hopefully it's not on backorder lol
Thank you! They say it would take the blood of 360 men to get enough iron to forge a long sword, who know how many more it would take to forge a kitten. :O
Too scary to think about! Cuteness like that must come at a steep price haha
Love it! Adding the song placed the icing and made me giggle. Just don't let the Dawg see this post! Hide the kitties! @guarddog 😜
Thank you. :D It's always nice to hear that my picture made someone giggle.
Loved that touch. BTW, taking your kitty to my page! I know there's a dog that will be jealous and furious but I can't resist.
Thank you so much, we will have to see if the dog can catch this adorable feline. ;P
😁 That would be something to wait and see! 😉
Yea I found the poses a mission to do, hard to keep same aspect ratio of character in different angles, I dig the style of this one, pretty unique to all the other entries, I'd say it stands out as different in it's own way with its interesting proportions and lines, love the over sized head and tiny paws haha rad\m/
Thank you :D And yes! the poses were a massive mission... I think I made the mistake of doing a full kitten and then going... oh crap, how do I make another one that looks the same. A better approach would probably have been to draw poses first and then colour them. Either way, it was great exercise.
