Alfa Romeo Stelvio in 5 points design

The centuries-old Alfa Romeo wants to get out of his long desert crossing. To rejuvenate the brand, rebuild its image and conquer a new customer base, Italian designed an SUV. Baptized Stelvio, it relies heavily on its design.

An elevated sedan
Unlike many SUVs that are a bit too massive, round, the design team of Alfa Romeo, whose average age does not exceed thirty years has taken the opposite by proposing an elevated adaptation of a sedan. A choice that allows more refined and more sporting lines.

Roof line
As a consequence of this choice: a falling roof line (which does not sacrifice the comfort of the passengers at the rear) that merges into a rag. The lines of this part are less convincing, perhaps because they are too crushed and because of the design of the optics which appears already outdated. The proportions are not the most elegant here.

Sacred character
The very charismatic front will be debated. No doubt the enthusiasts of the brand are convinced by this broad horizontal look ferocious and the triangular grille suspended. This last element adds lightness to the set and gives a little refinement to the sporty look displayed. Unlike some of its competitors with very bland design, the Stelvio, from this angle has a sacred character.

The dashboard
Contrary to the exterior design, in the cockpit nothing very delightful. There is a certain austerity. The integration of the elements is well done but without style madness. The same applies to the slender dashboard topped by two bumps highlighting the tachometer. A Disappointing.

The wheel
This is all the more unfortunate because the steering wheel is a real success. Echoing the design of the grille it has everything from the steering wheel of a sports vehicle with the "Start" button located at the bottom left and its long circular aluminum pallets that recall those used by Maserati or Ferrari. Flattering.

The Stelvio Alfa Romeo succeeds in a double-bet: to pursue consistently its stylistic renaissance while offering a differentiating vehicle that stands out clearly in the highly congested and highly "coded" segment of the SUV. We can only welcome the approach.
