Pelicans are spectacular and unusual birds.

Пеликаны – эффектные и необычные птицы.

In the Moscow Zoo they can be seen on the “Swamp” - this is the name of this small pond, created in the zoo since the 20s of the last century. Then ducks, swans, geese lived on this pond. In recent decades, there are pelicans.

В Московском зоопарке их можно увидеть на «Болоте» - таково название этого небольшого пруда, созданного в зоопарке с 20-х годов прошлого века. Тогда на этом пруду жили утки, лебеди, казарки. В последние десятилетия там содержатся пеликанообразные.

For them, equipped with an island of large snags and boughs. As you can see, pelicans like to sit there.

Для них оборудовали остров из больших коряг и сучьев. Как видно, пеликанам нравится там сидеть.

In the Moscow Zoo there live two species of pelican: Dalmatian pelican and Great white pelican. Great cormorants live with them on this pond. Only when I choose photographs for this post, I noticed that one of the cormorants seemed to be repeating everything after the pelicans. In the first photo the pelican spread its wings, and after it the cormorant. On the third, the pelicans sit, lifting their beaks, and the cormorant, too. And all the pelicans started cleaning feathers. Cormorant does not lag behind.

В Московском зоопарке живут два вида пеликаном: кудрявые и розовые. С ними же на этом пруду живут и большие бакланы. Только отбирая фотографии для этого поста, я заметила, что один из бакланов как будто специально повторяет всё за пеликанами. На первой фотографии пеликан расправил крылья, а за ним и баклан. На третьей пеликаны сидят, подняв клювы, и баклан тоже. А вот все пеликаны занялись чисткой перьев. Баклан не отстаёт.

And here you can see two kinds of pelicans closer. Dalmatian pelicans slightly greyish in the background. Ahead - Great white pelicans. Here they are not very bright delicate color.	А здесь поближе видно два вида пеликанов. Кудрявые немного сероватого цвета на заднем плане. Впереди – розовые пеликаны. Здесь они не очень яркого нежного цвета.
