Solo
The Deranged Photography Contest has officially returned and is alive on the Hive Blockchain. It has been a busy past few weeks as the Hive Blockchain has been spinning up and things at home have been coming together, but now is the time for my contest to make its return for the community.
The first theme is going to be Solo. So with this theme, I would like to see photos that have one subject in them, or photos that give you a feeling of isolation or being alone. It is kind of up to interpretation. This could be a cool theme to get pretty creative with. Kind of like the image I share below with the burning tree. It could kind of symbolize the times that we are in, that we are just standing by as the world burns during this whole pandemic.
How is the Deranged Photography Contest set up?
The contest is broken up into 2 different tiers. Each will have a different rewards for the winners based on what tier you enter into.
Here is a breakdown of the rewards based on the tiers:
Place | Professional | Amateur |
---|---|---|
1st | 5 Hive | 4 Hive |
2nd | 3 Hive | 2 Hive |
3rd | 2 Hive | 1 Hive |
Each contest will be open for submissions for 6 days and close on the 7th day so that winners can be picked and the new post can be made.
There will be a new theme announced each week. I am hoping to have the whole year planned out and will be able to have that posted for you all to prepare images for the contest.
How to enter
When you enter a photo in the competition, you will state what tier you want to be judged in and locked in for the month at that level.
For example if you enter a photo, you drop the photo in the comment section, state what level of photographer you are, and then give a description of the photograph.
That's pretty much it, drop a photo in the comment section of this post and state your tier. If you want to make a separate post for your entry as well, that is fine, but for your entry to be valid, your photo and tier must be in here in the comment section of this post. If you do make a separate post, be sure to use the and #oc tag. You are also encouraged to join the OCD Community and make your post to the OCD Community. You can join the OCD Discord and be a part of our discord community by clicking the link.
Additional Notes
Only one submission per contest. Extra submissions will be ignored.
You can switch your tier ONE time per month, but only if you are moving up into a higher tier, for example if you are currently in the amateur tier, but you think that you have a photograph that you want to enter in the professional tier, you can state that you are changing your tier to professional. You will then be locked into the new tier for the remainder of the month. You are not able to move down to a lower tier, like going from amateur to the beginner tier.
If you do not state which tier you want to be judged in for the month, I will leave a comment to remind you to do so, but if you don't respond, you will be assigned to a tier and locked in for that month.
Plagiarism will not be tolerated in any form. All submissions must be your own work. I will investigate every entry and if you are caught plagiarizing, not only will you be blacklisted from competing from any future contests, but you will be reported to @steemcleaners as well.
You are encouraged to share your posts on social media sites like Twitter, Instagram, etc. If you do so, use the #posh tag on your post and share the link of your share in the comment section of your post for a chance for extra curation from curation projects that are curating posts that are promoting Steem to sites outside of the blockchain.
Thank you to everyone that will be participating. The contest wouldn't be around without your great submissions!
Hi, I’m definitely an amateur when it comes to photography.
I took this one on kudle beach in India.
Hi, nice to see you back active with hosting contests.
I am an amateur, but will choose to be pro for a month :)
My entry is from Atacama desert and is one of my favorite shots taken. Hope you will like it as well.
Stay safe and enjoy!
Great shot
Tier: amateur
I remember the time when this photo was taken, I was testing some cheapo lens and some macro adapter, I wanted to see how cheap can I go and get decent result. For about 10 dollars (lens + lens adapter) I got something like this, I'm pretty satisfied with result. I also wanted to give direction to some people who are starting doing photography as their hobby, you don't need expensive lenses, cameras, equipment to get beautiful images, you just need to love what you are doing and results will be perfect.
I also made post about your contest, there are few additional photos that are not in this contest and I wanted to explain why I tiered myself as amateur. :)
Good luck to everyone!
Great shot! I love macro photos! Love the coloring in this one.
took this a week ago on the theme of social distancing.
not a pro but lets go with pro
Awesome
Nice to see the contest back!

Awesome shot that describes the theme perfectly.
I´m glad the contest is back. Here is my first entry.
The Snail
I find the photo very suitable for the current situation. It could also be interpreted that self isolation doesn't mean you can't go outside. Do it like a snail and leave your house every now and then, otherwise you will get mad.

Well, your photo reminded me of something, so I thought I will submit a photo of him.
A memory of my beloved cat.
He was a wild cat, a true cat I would mention. He caught mice, birds, and even squirrels and brought them all to my doorstep because he probably cared and wanted to feed us(cat thinking), maybe appreciation for me feeding him.
A little less than a year ago he got run over by a car on a nearby road and sadly passed away. He was 5 years old, most of life still ahead. It was a very sad day for me when we had to bury him last year. Even my other cat who is now 15 years old, meows loud when he is left alone in the room. I think that it is connected with the loss of his friend he can't forget and can't find anymore.
Sorry for the depressing story.
Now my photos are a great piece of memory of him.
Pro tier
I will also leave here another shot of my two cats here.
Not a contest shot!

Here's my entry (Tier-Amateur)
Tier: amateur
Photo taken in January, edited a few hours ago, I was alone while taking it, not that it's important since the subject of the photo is the one who should be alone haha, but well I don't have much to say.
I didn't see your contest until just a few minutes ago, I had already made this Post with the original image and the edited one, hopefully for the next one I will participate in your community. And by the way, I always use #posh
Good to see you running this on Hive again. Always enjoyed entering it. Will have to see what I can pull out of the bag for this one
Thanks for starting the fun contest on Hive @derangedvisions.
My entry in the Amateur tier.
A seagull flying solo is not a rare sight here on the Island but I thought he looked nice just flying about and enjoying the beautiful Easter Sunday.

Hello, here is my entry - Tier Pro

Tier: Pro
Can you be alone in a big city?
When i saw a topic for deranged photo contest i remembered a shot i took while in NY.
Busy streets, alive river of people and there yet a solo guy that stood out waiting at a crosswalk holding his smartphone.
Since smarphones became so dear to us to the intimate level, i do not know if he is really solo or is it just him and his phone. But i can surely tell that if he was not holding his device he would look much more lonely than he is now. What do you think?
