I know everyone's different with how they get past their depression and even how it affects them. I think it's helpful to start getting into a routine of some sort of productivity and creativity. A lot of people turn to working out or art. I used biking tours as a healthy outlet and it helped me make a lot of good friends along the way.
You just need that sense of urgency to push yourself to try something, because once you realize that you can't just keep waking up and going through the motions of not enjoying yourself any more, it's time to do as much as you can to have positive energy in your life again. You may want to consult a professional about medication or do some research for lighter, still helpful over-the-counter type of supplements which can even help you get into the habit of complying with a routine and staying active in one way.
