I've been following the terrible case of the Delphi murders, and realising just how different things are today. When I grew up in the 70's, it was nothing for us kids to be outside all day every day in the summer. We'd roam barefoot and free, and as long as we could hear our parents call to come in at dusk, that was it as far as supervision. I still remember the taste of water from the hose and eating wild blackberries when we found them. Today's children do not experience these freedoms. We try to protect them from monsters that walk amongst us, and yet, carnage at every turn for children. Abby and Libby, I am sorry that we have failed as a society to give you summertime and sanctuary. There is no greater loss. May vengence be thunderous and swift.
