As you are aware, Facebook is up to its ears in scandals involving data mining and our privacy. The UK Parliament, Australian Parliament, US Congress and now Canadian parliament are demanding answers from Facebook. As for deleting Facebook... you can keep it on your home PC and log on through their website to stay in touch with friends who are oblivious to the issue (or just don't realize the seriousness of it) but as far as their app on your mobile devices such as your 'smart' phone or table, I strongly recommend deleting as soon as possible. Aim for April 1 so that the joke's on Mark Zuckerberg, the same guy who thinks you're a 'dumb fuck'!
Governments around the world are pissed at Facebook. Proctor and Gamble, the largest advertiser in the world is cutting back on spending on Facebook to the tune of hundreds of millions. If they are cutting back, so are others.
Elon Musk shut down Tesla's and Space X's pages on Facebook as well as Playboy. Yes, even Playboy is pissed at Facebook, saying that Facebook is sexist.
Going forward, do not post family pictures or vacation shots on Facebook. Facebook utilizes their face recognition software to determine who are in your pictures. Seems like fun to 'tag' someone but the truth is, it's a gross invasion of privacy. Keep all your info to a bare minimum on Facebook. Start by deleting any pictures you've already uploaded.
If Adolf Hitler were alive today, Facebook would be the apple in his eye! Think about that. That's why I believe without a doubt that Facebook (and Google) are a direct threat to democracy and free speech.
It's up to us to do something about it. Together, we can be a show of force if we really want to be.
